Challenge level impossible for the RR ))
It’s definitely a limited airframe (relative to something like the F-15A or JAS39A), but I wouldn’t put it lower than the F-16As. 12.7 seems fair if it only has AIM-9Ls.
If it were to receive AIM-9Ms it would have to be 13.0 as a matter of principle.
Hello. I’ll check it out today. Thank you.
the F-16A is at that BR only Because of it’s airframe
it’s what makes it so good at WVR combat
the F/A-18A lacks that ability because it’s slower than anything else in the 12.0-13.0 range except the Harriers, which do have better acceleration than it
it’s also not manouverable enough to warrant it’s slowness, especially if it has to fight F-16s
also I might remind you that it lacks HMD on the earlier versions
In all fairness we don’t have the Hornet’s airframe in game yet. So we cannot compare how it will perform in game to other airframes yet.
We do know the Hornet IRL is extremely good at pulling AOA and it should have decent acceleration. Top end speed isn’t everything of course. It entirely depends on its loadout, but 12.3 would more than likely be too low.
- 9L/7M – 12.7
- 9M/7M/P – 13.0
The F/A-18A definitely should not be the same BR as the F-4EJ Kai, that’s for sure lol
we don’t have a Hornet FM in game, that is correct but we do have info on the Hornet’s behaviour and engine power
the A has a Thrust to Weight worse than the F4E when empty and the F-18C has a Max Sustained AOA of 9° at ~ Mach 0.9 with a Max Instant AOA of 18° at ~ Mach 0.6
(I dont have definitie numbers on the F-18A manouverability, only on C and E)
Graph on F/A-18C/E AOA
Addition: I do want to see Hornets in this game too, Especially the Baseline A variant, but they will not even remotely be meta defining or even top tier
I agree, but what I am trying to get across is that Gaijin’s implementation of the aircraft matters more than the data we have available. We simply do not know if they will gimp the F/A-18A or make it comparable to the F-16A (which is overperforming by a lot).
Looking at the kit, and knowing the Hornet is a pretty solid airframe, I doubt it will be 12.3. Keep in mind that the F-14A Early is 12.7 and it still does not have its AIM-9Ls (granted that’s because it has Phoenixes, but those aren’t that amazing anyways imo). The F/A-18A is definitely more in line with the F-16A and F-14A Early than the F-4EJ Kai in my opinion. As a result, I expect it to be 12.7, not 12.3.
thr F-14A has ARH missiles
that’s the only reason for it’s BR
I’d compare it more to the F4S/J than the F-14A tho thus I’d put it at a lower BR
ohno I woke mytho up
Issue with that graph in comparison with the C and the E is the C is at a greater disadvantage
If the Python 4 is added soon, I wouldn’t be surprised, if an Aussie one is added, if it gets them.
how likely do you think Py4 is?
It’s the next logical step for Israeli aircraft, so I would be very surprised if we don’t see it at most by the third update of this year, though I’m more expecting it within the first two.
A missile with python 4 kind of G pull is highly unlikely
It was only tested during the missile trials i find it unlikely
That means nothing. There are multiple aircraft in game that have weaponry they were only tested with, and many more with weaponry they never used.
My point is it is highly unlikely that it would come with Python 4 when it could get ASRAAM which is more historically accurate
Combined with that Python 4 will mostly likely come with other better missiles
I’m hoping for 9M and 7M at 12.7/13.0 personally, that Gulf War era Hornet
It’s also the next logical step for missiles in game, I believe it’s 60g which is only 10 over our current best, the real issue is the seeker which is much better than current IR missiles however it is already effectively modelled in game on the stinger which from what I hear is far from OP so 2-3 updates might not be such a terrible guess, personally I think December for next generation IR though
It’s actually similar to the MICA in pull, since the P4 doesn’t have TVC and the MICA does.
