Probably amraams, derbys are a risk to my mental health

I just use Derby’s as unflarable IR missiles for up and close nonsense

Why tho? The A2D-1 is quite the potent fighter when it isn’t being weighed down by bombs

As someone who prefers the AMRAAM I would be a giddy son-of-a-gun to have a AMRAAM gripen to go along with my AAM-4 F-15J(M)

Might be just me now days, but I just can’t get it to B&Z like it used to, 8.0 jets have been killer.
(Edit: just flew it, 2 kills, skill issue on my end)

Though I will admit I am hoping for the F5ThHor the BK.h19 cause F-5 with derby be funni, jokes aside though I wish we could get any clue of Japan getting a CAS upgrade, my only real question here is if Japan will get a CAS aircraft to perform with top tier, as it’s hard to play top tier Japan with so much pressure overhead even with the type 81

How about Tigermeet skins for the EF? Example:

It works but id prefer amraams 9/10 times. Especially for air battles.

Base VT4 shouldnt be hugely different. It lacks APS but it is much more practical to use the fire rate of Japanese MBTs to knock out ATGM launchers first. However when it comes to dealing with heli ATGM its gonna be proven to be a problem i dont think the type 81c can deal with ka50 or spike launchers

Generally depends on what Gaijin does. Thailand does have various LGBs and AGM-65G, which would be adequate CAS for now and probably a few more updates if Gaijin does nothing too crazy, even if it will fall off again in the future unless we consider other ASEAN options alongside them.

So basically depending on what exactly Gaijin adds, Thailand can be a fix for top tier CAS for a while.

SPAA would still be an issue though, since Thailand never bought the proposed HVSD/ADAMS, and their Roland M3S might not even have been offered to them considering the lack of sources besides an unfounded mention on wikipedia.

The type 81 can VERY effectively take down the healies when in optic track mode, however the spike throwing ones are tricky if they are capable

I did a brief research on the topic, it seems like the RMA operates a handful of rapier SAM systems. However I cant be sure about them being on SPAA platforms.

I have issues locking to choppers even in good weather…they need to give it its ARH missile

I think they are exclusively trailer mounted systems with a separate launcher and radar trailer. So unless Gaijin will let us chain them together I am not sure if this would work.

The only reasonable improvement for SAM Japan could get through this subtree would probably be the Singaporean SPYDER-SR, which doesn’t have the search radar or missile count an Israeli SPYDER AIO would have, but still would have capable surface launched Python 5 and Derby missiles to improve the trees SAM capabilities.

The type 81 is sufficient for the non space climbing CAS users, and if they are space climbing the F-15J(M) can dispatch them with AAM-4 s, and for me the DJP Apache can handle my needs for responsive attacks with hellfires and rockets if it’s absolutely needed, it would be nice to get a space climbing or diving option but only time will tell for now

Seems it is a system of three trailers for (left to right) launcher, FCS (track) radar and search radar respectively.

Actual operation is also likely done from another vehicle.

they are saying that of the leaked vehicles coming next update, the hq-17 is one of them, and it uses many other vehicles to accompany it. I feel like gajin is gonna experiment with the hq-17 and if it works , i believe spyder-sr(Spyder-aio for Israel can already fit in game) and other vehicles that need support vehicles could be added in the upcoming updates.

Of course milage may vary as people will have trouble some times, I haven’t had an issue tackling helies with either the type 81 or the type 93, but I also carry the type 89 with me and have it’s ASMs or the type 87 SPAA for the gun AA role

Depends on which HQ-17 variant. HQ-17 base is a designation for the tor system, and HQ-17A was an overhaul replacing most electronic with Chinese counterparts. In the gameplay it would be represented as thermals, missile range up to 15km, and transferred onto a wheeled chassos.
