Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

I love the amount of Godzilla vehicles being posted today.

All they need to do is expand the TWS mode to include air-only, ground-only, and dual-purpose options. At the very least, this is a key selling point in reality, so there’s no reason not to implement it in the game.

nah Sapsan pods never made it to RuAF, plus later years had various other targeting pod ended up made and again never utilized by Russian Air Force like the T220/E (this one actually did used by Egyptians with their MiG-29M/M2) and KOEP-35 since they never exercise multirole on Su-27/30/35 with laser munitions plus most of those sorties often given to Su-24 and Su-34

T220/E pod
KOEP-35 pod

and then there’s 101KS-N that is similarly lookalike to Sniper pod (for some reason Su-57 not having built in targeting system that isn’t IRST)
101KS-N

I hecking love Godzilla. The maser tanks are some of the wackiest and goofiest sci-fi military vehicles to exist and I adore them.

That would be cool hahahahah Wizard 3 coming in.

That’s a potential option yes, having 3 modes to switch from.

Yeah exactly hahahahahaha.

How about the only class of Japanese heavy cruiser still absent

They should do something for april fools

Takao-class, indeed.

There should be a proper mech event, with things like Mechagodzilla and a Gundam.

That would be my favorite april fools event ever.

DMM’s work takes a lot of time, so let’s look at it with a long-term perspective. (The Yamato-class implementation plan, for instance, dates back to comments from 2021.) Hopefully, this is some kind of foreshadowing for a future Patlabor collaboration project. 【特報】陸・空に続く海の新プロジェクト「海軍軍備補充計画」立案! - War Thunder (ウォーサンダー)- DMM GAMES

JM is great

Russia and China have no actual full flight hypersonic missiles, R37 is allegedly only hypersonic for the first stage of its flight while it can’t even track in that stage and AIM174 was just made for killing at extreme ranges, AWACS and such.

A hypersonic missile that could sustain full hypersonic speed right to its target was concepted by US in the 2000 and made public some years ago, with 2 models. The alleged hypersonic missiles that Russia has even if they are remotely reliable, make no use because they have no capable enough jet and much less radar to pair the alleged hypersonic missiles.

Having the ability to be hypersonic while not being able to track is basically useless against advanced targets that can easily defend, so R37 is mainly an Anti-AWACS missile but R37 has not even been verified in the slightest, while AIM120 and AIM9s proved that they can reliably hit targets over the advertised ranges.

It is widely believed that Russia in fact doesn’t even have a missile that can reliably hit targets at 70 kms, with each jet or new piece of american tech that comes to light, everyone else including europe in just a couple of years release a copy paste.

J20 to F22/F35, J35 to F35, SU57 to F22, TAI TF to F22, SU75 to F35 and so on, all of these are created in response to what US does, why would russia and china ever feel the need give a response if they have such a more advanced military?

Missiles need to be reliable, since no matter what their abilities may be it is useless if it can’t reliably hit and we all know how reliable Russian and Chinese tech are as a whole.

However… the AS.34 anti-ship missile, which can only attack ships, was implemented. So, there should still be a possibility for the ASM-1 to be implemented alongside cockpit corrections for the F-1 fighter and the addition of a ground mode for its radar.

I’ll take a more specific example.

Every nation does that, but not how you think.

They design equipment to counter existing threats, replace existing equipment and be at least slightly better than their predictions of enemy future equipment.

The key part is the delay between the start of a project and the conclusion.

F-15 is a reaction against MiG-25, but this type of thing is a rare exception. This took a few years, these were simpler planes even.

F-22 begins design in the 1980’s to try to replace F-15, beat MiG-29 and Su-27. This is the more common way.

Su-57 is sort of the same. It is a reboot of the Soviet program from the 1980’s, so the same time as F-22 is being designed. 1.44 and Su-47 are the results of that process, but those designs essentially failed due to collapse of the Soviet Union. Su-57 is just the modernisation and reshuffling of the existing legwork and some updating. It’s not a pure knee-jerk reaction to F-22.

These types of programs simply take too long and are too secretive for this type of ping-pong you are implying.

It is very weird and anachronistic.

pacific rim would be much better suited imo.

Its said to be comparable to PESA, seems to have beaten the Rafale’s PESA in pure range according to the Swiss evaluation but exhibited worse target acquisition at comparable ranges as well as worse ECM resistance, but I believe once it acquired a lock it was stronger.

To say its as good as AESA is probably wrong. Maybe a small AESA array it can beat in certain was. But obviously the radars are fundamentally working on different principles so anything E-Scan is probably going to have better acquisition and ECM resistance, but absolute range is supposedly more tied to power and interleaving than to the method of scanning.
