Between the Zhuk radar and higher thrust it would definitely be faaar better than the Su-27SM.
Yup can’t fire all of them together, but R-77s probably wouldn’t be too effective either in that play style… although right now they are either guided by a garbage radar that updates every 7 seconds at best or are being fired at low speed by a plane with garbage flight performance, that’s probably playing a big part on the r-77 performance.
Pretty much, though Yukari got it wrong sometimes like earlier in the year mistaking something for an F-2.
Also, unsure why people are worried about the AIM-120C-5. Like, the AAM-4 is supposed to be equivalent/better than it and look how nerfed it is. Until we see the stats, it’s just a nothingburger.
I think that there existed a chart comparing the effective range of ARH missiles and it included 120C. It’s not too much of an increase from current A/B from what I remember.
PL-12 is very much in the same boat as AAM-4, though instead of an outright unhistorical nerf like AAM-4 Gaijin just used the stats of export SD-10 which has a less powerful motor compared to actual PL-12.
In light of the leak regarding the F-5s, I’m also hoping we can get the F-5TH as well. It can get Derby missiles, IRIS-T, AIM-9Ls, and AGM-65B. Japan sorely needs some revitalization, especially for CAS as well.
Gaijin should understand that there are ways to add this sort of infusion to Japan without having to compromise on quality. We all understand that more modern additions will be variants of existing aircraft, but that doesn’t mean they have to be just the same model with different armaments for BR purposes.
The JP/ASEAN research group released a subtree suggestion which I’m really hoping Gaijin takes note of
