Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

Sure but their argument then is a weak one. You can’t add DU inserts into tank despite at least one tank getting it but you can add a top tier aircraft that never had an RWR, weapons, radar, and countermeasures (at least not all at the same time). The Yak-141 was given all that because hey, it was built to have them despitr never getting them. We know the Abrams had DU inserts, we know they went into at least five tanks, but for some reason we can increase the weight by 5 or tons but not give it the armor inserts.

It certainly wouldn’t hurt at this point, the 8B wouldn’t be that strong and whilst I’ve only used it on the Bison, the 73 always seemed less effective than something like a Magic 2 despite having the same style IRCCM.

The 8B isnt NEEDED but its coming because the J11B just cant use the 5EII

Nah its gotta be the Gnat, Mk.14e or the Mk.23.

I would like the J-10A more if it didn’t have those hideous strut braces.

8B will probably be a long-range sniping missile. Chinese pilots complained that sub 1-kilometer pull isn’t too impressive when they slaved it to HMD, because it accelerated way too quickly. The PL-8B has a more-powerful motor compared to PL-8.

They could add the PL-9 or god forbid stick with the R-73

The R73 is the missile with the most atrocious performance fluctuations ive ever seen.

If you dont have an HMD that missile feels useless

That still wouldn’t make too much sense though.
The J-11B’s wingtip pylons were designed with the PL-8B in mind.

Oh Jesus, I didn’t realize it had a stronger motor, the PL-8 already has some damn good range, but I always like it when a minor nations gets to bask in the spotlight for a while so bring on the OP PLAAF beasts

I like using the R-73 because I dive down on furballs a lot, and the high maneuverability helps me hit targets underneath and moving away from me.

Yeah, and it gets IRCCM as well. So it’s going to be a pretty good missile with the only downside being close-range pull.

TBF the Chinese had to redesign their pylons for the PL-8s massive tail fins but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t still accommodate other missiles

I agree with the community consensus that at a minimum, the hull needs to be reworked, and buffed. Don’t want to call it DU? Call in tungsten, it’s practically the same effect, especially for how it will play out in game.

I’ve used the PL-7 and the Magic 1 and both seem to be younger brother who is better than everything than you, but he’s still only 12 so he isn’t an adult yet.

I’m not kidding when I said that I watched that thing literally gyro into Mars yesterday. It blows my mind that we are still dealing with this problem in DECEMBER of 2024.

Yeah… It’s not authentic without it though.
Albeit Gaijin doesn’t really care about that but all of the photos you see of J-11B carrying IR missiles is PL-8B.

It would look wack otherwise. It already did on J-10A.

It’s funny because it really needs some better IRCCM to compete, and the gyro issues are fairly rare. But even then, I’ve clutched some shots I thought I had no business making because it’s initial pull is so damn good.

It’s still broken, but man is it fun when it works.

I’ve had a moment when I was shot down, but I was still able to slave a R-73 and it literally did a 180 to hit the guy as they flew past me.

The novelty of the R73 is the really stupid long range absurd angle shots you land every once in a while.

HE shells don’t need direct los either due to their arcing trajectory, and the travel time is much shorter meaning there is less time for your opponent to react. Versatility of a shell isn’t really helpful when you can simply switch shell types depending on your need.

Theoretically, the best War Thunder player will never ever been shot, and armor is thus useless to him. War Thunder is a game about controlling engagements and picking when to fight. Every single death (outside of bugs/jank) can be explained by poor positioning, or potentially lack of awareness/reaction time.

Peeked around a corner when you shouldn’t have and got killed? That’s your skill issue. Got rushed by the enemy after your team all died? That’s because of your poor positioning or reluctance to adapt to a changing situation. Etc etc etc, my point is that none of these things require good armor. Ultimately, every engagement you get into is completely under your control, for better or worse. I’d go into further detail but I don’t wanna get into a far too meta discussion for R&R, and also I’m tired of typing lol.

It’s really funny because you don’t expect it at all sometimes. Same thing with MICA, seeing a missile making u-turns is hilarious.
