Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

How exactly? Well, besides Coastal being useful in Bluewaters fights acting as anti-sub screens

Can’t wait for bicycles in WT

The only new nation I would want to see at the moment is an independent India, just so Gaijin can’t put their Soviet and Russian vehicles in the British tree.

Submarines I wouldn’t mind, but I wouldn’t be excited for them either (except for a potential K-Class submarine).

New mechanics would be cool. ECM is long overdue, general countermeasure reworks/rebalances would be nice and the constructable stuff in ground battles sounded very interesting.

A mechanic to allow the introduction of more advanced SPAAs and SAMs for all nations (not just Russia) would be great too.

India wouldn’t make sense since it was only a couple updates ago that it officially became a sub nation.

I know… I still have some hope left in me tho

Transfer that hope over to Yugoslavia, it’ll be better placed.

I honestly don’t want to see a new nation right now, I just want them to not add Russian and Soviet stuff to the British tech tree

Here’s what i think could come with the introduction of Submarines into War Thunder.

Stealth and Surprise:
Submarines can sneak up on enemy ships undetected, allowing for surprise attacks that can catch opponents off guard. This can totally change the way you approach naval battles, making stealth a key tactic (Example in the strategic Positioning section below)

Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW):
With submarines in play, you’ll need to develop and use ASW tactics. This means using sonar, depth charges, and specialized ships and Helicopters to hunt down enemy subs, adding a new level of complexity.

Strategic Positioning:
Submarines can control important areas like chokepoints and shipping lanes, affecting the movement and supply lines of enemy forces.

The Psychological Impact:
Knowing that enemy submarines could be lurking underwater can keep you on edge, forcing you to stay vigilant and possibly altering your decisions during battles (making you play defensively)

Diversifying the Fleet:
Adding submarines means you’ll need a more varied fleet, including surface ships, subs, and ASW assets. This makes naval battles more dynamic and interesting for everybody involved.

Overall:
Submarines bring a fresh and exciting dimension to naval warfare in War Thunder, requiring players to adapt their tactics and strategies to effectively counter these underwater threats.

Hmmm, it all and good, but… in practical terms? Your average WT player aint most psychologically affected or strategic (even if reduce to just people who unironically play naval). On another hand however I agree about diversification point, same as why you need SPAA in your ground set-up you will need anti-sub ships (which I take will be mostly come from Coastal line. Which in term will reinforce the need to take at least some Coastal ships in your Bluewaters line up besides occasional map with coastal point there big ships cant reach)

In my opinion, Coastal and Bluewater should have never been separated, in the first place!

Wasp, Wessex and Sea King my beloved

Also, can we separate missile ships too? the fact that Bravy is sat at 5.3 is a massive traversty imo

Yeah. Although I get why - people want to jump to “Good stuff” as soon as possible and Bluewaters offer this from the get go, while you had to suffer grind in Coastal to get something remotely good (and Coastal being first to be added in the game)

Reserve tier submarines anyone?

I understand, but it’s not just about that. Despite being new and still in its infancy, WT Mobile is ahead in naval technology compared to the PC game version and thats whats upsetting…

Submarines and more advance missile frigates to name a few
oh and the King George V

Ofcoarse with a working bell

Heck, i’ll take it.
Cap points without anyone knowing you’re there.

Those are all good points for adding them.
Main (only?) argument I heard for people against them is “they won’t be so good”.
I guess it’s fine then if we get them. Nothing to fear right?..right? 😈

Compared to the Mobile one, Gaijin still struggled in the Navy machinery, ERA armor, and ammunition damage model… They have lots of things need to do. and also the balance…
