It didn’t get skipped. The last tank (Churchill Petard) and the ship before the Tomcat were the outliers.
The HMS Barham marks the end of the third cycle, so the next vehicle begins the fourth cycle with a tank, as usual.

The schedule is tank - plane - ship - repeat, since they wanted a tank for the D-Day event they had the Churchill and the Alcione swap places

The Jumo 004E is actually an Afterburning german engine, production was supposed to start in summer 1945.
I really hope the next update includes a new nation, tech tree (maybe submarines), or some new mechanics. It’s starting to feel a bit repetitive, and it could use something fresh to liven things up.

Considering that submarine spawns has been found in 2.39 file.I think they will come within 6 months.

They are already available in War Thunder Mobile and have been tested in various events in the past. I hope this introduction revitalizes Naval gameplay.
