Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

I am still 50/50 on whether ARMs or subs will come this year and if they do I am fully expecting them to have issues as all new mechanics do…

I really hope the Murmansk has the Kingfishers with Soviet markings

Oh yeah, if 1 in 10 ARMs hits a target for the first year, then we are already doing better than expected.

And yeah, Subs… I can see them flipflopping between useless and OP for a while.

But both would be fun either way.

As for timeframe. Subs I have no idea, could go either way.

SEAD gameplay, especially ARMs… I think more and more likely every update. The only logical reason I can think of as to why they havent added any new SPAA for top tier, is because they are about to jump top tier SPAA ahead by quite a bit for all nations, but want both sides in place first, such as having SEAD aircraft and maybe ECM?

It will no doubt be a US Kingfisher, As seen by the Emerald class cruiser in game which you can see a FAA Kingfisher on the catapult but in the air it has US markings.

I see them only being useful in EC tbh. Most of the normal naval maps are two small for submarines to really exploit their capabilities imo.

I could see that. My question is however with older missiles like Shrike are they going to model different missiles with different seekers for going after specific bands or will they take some creative liberty with them and its a more or less one size fits all affair.

Update name threat unseen

Yeah, I would concur, but Gaijin will try to balance them for use in NRB, without making radical changes to the maps. I reckon they’ll start on the surface for a few weeks and just get instantly one shotted. Then be moved to an underwater start to avoid that. Then their torps will go from being good to bad to good to bad. Constantly. Also their resistance to depth charges / how good sonar is will constantly change as well I reckon.

I suspect somewhere in the middle. Mostly accurate but for some will have bands that are ahistoric. Based upon the changes they made to RWR for “balance”. The changes will result in Soviet ARMs being able to hit any NATO SPAA, but no ARM will be able to see K band to target the Pantsir (and I would assume later Soviet SPAA also uses K band)

Definetly works. Maybe even throw the F-117 in that update too :D

HS 293 would be absolutely amazing.

And Soviet Murmy is also a cool thing.

they were guesses we had before we knew it had sth guided

I hope it just becomes a mod for the TT He177

but hey I’m also hoping for BT700 torpedos and Mistel 3 for the Fw190F8 so who cares

(exepted he made the coment way after it was revealed it had to have guided amunition)

The devs have already commented in two Q&A 's that they don’t consider anti-radiation missiles to be useful against player-controlled SAM vehicles, so I don’t think the development of ARM is related to their plans for Ground.

Since the static s2a sites in the files ( S-75 / S-300 / Hawk / Patriot ) are the ones they referred to by name as examples of targets that antiradiation would be useful against, and the " sead " mission tag was datamined recently, it seems more like they’ll add them w/ a focus for the Air modes.

The anti-radiation missile (ARM) early variant from vietnam war and post-war vietnam in the 60s - 70’s ?

Id hope it wasnt limited to just those, as that would, once again, exclude Britain (and most nations) from a new mechanic. Still waiting on Napalm and GPS bombs for mutliple aircraft

So Id hope they would include ALARM, and AGM-88 HARM so that more nations have access.

I think (but could be entirely wrong) only thing britian had with “Early” ARM was the Vulcan with Shrike.

I think Britain had Martel ARM variant

Your right, forgot about those. So thats Jags, Bucs and Tornado (for britain, A few mirages for the french). But still would hope we got ALARM

France would also use Martel aswell

Then the US would be AGM-45, AGM-78, AGM-88

Perhaps even AGM-122 on the naval platforms and even on their AH-1 Super Cobra

So in summary for the BP, since it needs to be specifically a heavy bomber, with guided weapons, afaik these are the most likely options:

  • He 177
  • Fw 200
  • Ju 290

A bit more out there (existed and flown, but never carried the Fritz X or Hs 293)

  • Ju 390
  • He 274

Even more out there and very unlikely (prototype never made it to flight)

  • He 277
  • Ju 488

Most previous event tanks were the 3rd reward of the BP. So with that, as controversial, boring and (in my personal opinion) stupid as this is, I sadly suspect the Gaijin will make the tank crate the level 75 reward. The Murmansk will be the level 50 reward most likely.
So with that, the German plane will have to be the low tier reward. As such, I put my money on the Fw 200, with an off chance to the Ju 290.
