Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1) (Part 1)

Where this from

Thats one sexy Catalina.
And no this is not a Fantasy, its a real concept in the works.
So with some luck we get in a few years a new Catalina with Turboprobs, Hellfires etc.

Once again f14 was part of the aim120 program since the beginning and only the f14D(also the f14C but was cancelled) was meant to use aim120 only reason why the F14A tested them was because it was available also their no reason for them to re test launching them on the f14D when the airframes are practically the same are is no huge difference in them other than vain glove, ecm fairing and that one was analog and the other was digital also it is capable of carrying and launching them only thing that was needed was a software update to the radar so saying it’s historically incorrect is not the full truth

dod hearing

before funding was cut

Wait this thing is still use?

No this is basicly a complete new Plane what just looks like the OG Catalina.
Similiar how the F-2 looks like a F-16 but isnt.
But this Catalina II gets Turboprobs, reinforced structure with modern components, modern Sensors and weapons like Hellfires etc.

Ahh okay
Hopefully they put some mini guns on the both sides

Very much hope so.

CM disclosure tomorrow would be generational, with dev blogs starting from Thursday/Friday.

Though the most probable outcome is CM post on Thursday and first devblog of the season on Friday.

ASS rad is 10.3 so why not

Wait they’re bringing back the Catalina’s ?

Looks like it.

Looks to be a similar to what the C-130 has become where the design can fulfil multiple mission roles. Although with either heavy modifications or separate airframes per role.

Yeah, but we can still hope for some generousity.

Yeah, i thought i saw a picture of one with AGM’s under it…

That’s the point though. There was never a single F14d that even carried aim120. The only f14 that did was the f14a. To give it a weapon it never used is completely unhistorical.

I mean yeah they could just make up planes and add them to the game too. Why not just make stuff up?

Because it’s not the Same situation

We already have stuff like the IRST on the YaK-141 which falls under the “planned equipment” rule. Not to mention all the equipment shared across aircraft from different nations because “so long as it could carry the equipment then it being in a nations stockpile isn’t a requirement” such as KH-38 on all the Su-30’s, the gunpod for the Alpha Jet TH and AN/APG-69 on the Swiss F-5E.

So why not give the F-14D AIM-120 as again it’s clear it was planned for it to be integrated and was very close to being finished.

That’s kinda the best/worst example (depending on the point of view) currently as its whole loadout and avionic was just “planned” but never flew or let alone used AFAIK.

does this mean i could make an excuse for the mirage 4k getting micheals (micas)

Simply the information thus far has not been sufficient to show it actually was.

Then if I may ask Mr.Smin, Is the sole reason for Su-25SM3 (and for that matter, Su-30SM/SM2/30MKM) having Kh-38ML/MTs because of the brochure or is there another source that the public doesn’t know about?

Gripen E has both Brimstone and SPICE. There is no footage for either on Gripen. Yet it has both due to offical sources.

Since I’m assuming those “official sources” are the publically accessible brochures, how does gaijin differentiate between “actually operationally capable” weapons and ones that aren’t?

Because as far as I know there isn’t proof that says JAS-39E has the “operational capability” to use Brimstone (SAL)s and Spice-250/1000s.

I think that the Mirage 4000 is a separate case since it had armament. The Yak-141 had zero armament but was a planned fighter so it gets all of its planned armament and avionics. If you can prove the Mirage 4000 had planned capability for MICA then maybe? But even then its down to balance. Using the Yak-141 to get Mirage 4000 MICAs won’t work though, they’re different cases.
^Don’t take this as official confirmation of anything, I don’t work with the technical team or devs
