I honestly think it will be earlier and it’s sooner than we think. From what I know, even DCS hasn’t modeled AESA so, in effect, Gaijin has free reign to do whatever they want with AESA. It could be a glorified PD radar for all we know when modeled in WT.
At the same time, F-2 is a decent money maker for Gaijin given how many requests they get for it, so they would want to release it at a good time when people aren’t distracted with too many other goodies. I’d imagine sometime next year between March and October 2024, would be a good time.
In the meantime though, I hope they consider the XF-2A with PD radar so we can have something better than F-2 at home (F-16AJ).
F-15J has multiple variants too, so we’ll have something for a while at the very least.
yeah especially the F-15J IRST which is a more unique F-15J having a built in IRST system on the nose, another unique trait is the AAM-4 missile can be guided with just the IRST system. Though AAM-4 of any kind is probably not coming this patch and the F-15J IRST would probably be a later addition.
You guys are getting way too optimistic from those statements from Smin. I don’t think he was meaning to imply we are getting foreign vehicles at all, just that we shouldn’t expect anything good.
So Britain doesn’t need anymore CAS, We haven’t got a domestic fighter to fill the fighter gap and we are going to get a fighter aircraft. There is only one way too see this and that is we are going to get a fighter from someone else.
Where it’s possible to do so, we always find candidates to fill those gaps
I’m kinda expecting them to say, “and in this case it wasn’t possible” lol. Sorry to be a negative neville, but I’ve been disappointed enough times to have learnt my lesson.
SeaHarrier wouldn’t be foreign, and also wouldn’t really fill the top tier fighter gap. It’s a subsonic CAS platform refitted with a radar and AMRAAMs.
