The only thing that really makes it Ukrainian is that it came out of KHTZ okb at Malyshev, based on research they were asked to conduct by the USSR into a diesel powerplant to replace the turbines which were proving to be too costly. The majority of T-80’s were produced at Omsk.

Where is the longevity of Japan?
The majority of interesting or viable equipment from Japan is already in game.
Sure, they have some aircraft that could push along in top tier, but the ground side of things is very much going to suffer by the time those aircraft arrive.
Japan has a few IFVs and recoilless rifle armed things left as well as they could add some near identical prototypes to vehicles we already have in game, but that isn’t particularly interesting.
Having many Type 74s is good for a lineup, but it isn’t particularly interesting…
A sub-tree could alleviate the vast majority of these issues.

To be honest, and I’m gonna catch a ton of flak for this so just hear me out guys.
If Taiwan and China have to share a tree, if West Germany and East Germany have to share a tree, if Vietnamese vehicles can be found inside the Chinese tree as well… maybe, just maybe, the Ukrainian tanks should be added to the USSR tree like other CIS vehicles (Belarus/Kazakhstan for now) as a subtree or as premium/event vehicles.

This is why I’m generally opposed to subtrees as a whole. Its almost always just that, a million American or Soviet/Russian vehicles to “add variety” to tech trees.
South Africa was alright though, that actually added new stuff.
Ture lmao but still I don’t want another tech tree with a 15+ vehicles based on one tank because it’s got a different mg mounting

South Africa is arguably the worst of the bunch because they robbed the British tree of a domestic light vehicles line.
Some nations will be left behind at some point, subtrees won’t be able to fix that.
I mean, it does help, even though the vehicles will be what other nation already have.
