I had to find out that R-27ER performance is HEAVILY dependant on the Plane’s radar in a Frustrating way yesterday
on sth like a Su-27 (which I suppose has a better radar than my MiG-29 9.12A) it could absolutely be a counter to Early AMRAAMs
however now that the MiG-29 9.12A/G radar is as “good” as it should’ve been from the beningin and essentially the Missiles loose most Longer range engagement on those 2 Airframes now (I can’t speak for the Russian ones)
AIM-120A and B difference would be similar to current AIM-7F and AIM-7M. AIM-120C would only be slightly longer range than AIM-120B but at cost of lower max pull ~35G > ~28G. AIM-120C-5 tho would be a problem since it got a new engine which significantly increased the range.
The DM43 is a export round, but why do you want to cripple the Leopard 2a7 ammunition choices ?
DM53 would be fine, plus the Leopard 2a7 never ever fired DM43 in the first place.
AIM-120A and AIM-120B are the same missile, with no improvements to range, just the ability to load software onto it differently. C is when they gave it different fins and stuff
I don’t??? I’m simply stating what Gaijin might do. If you’ve seen my previous comment on the matter you’d see that I’m expecting DM43, DM53 or DM63 for the new 2A7V. It might get the worse shell for the same reason why Polish 2PL got DM43 despite never ever firing it irl or why Swedish Strv122s had only DM33 for such a long time despite never ever firing it irl
Yeah I know. That’s pretty much what I said. A/B difference is marginal and won’t be implemented in the game. C got smaller fins which increased the range slightly but also decreased the max pull. Only C-5 got new engine and other major improvements which make it so good. Basic C is nothing more than clipped AIM-120B
Why? The best ammunition of the Hungarian Leopard 2 a4 is DM-23 and we received it for training in 2020…rheinmetall website only has DM-53 A1 and DM-63…
