Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up and Discussion (Part 2)

IIRC the UK pulled a dumbass move and left literally a few months before the unveiling of the first prototype, the mismanaged ingenuity of our defence decisions never ceases to be treasonous.

It seems strange how there is a Mirage 4000 in there even though only one was built

Is it? The suggestion thread says it is a modified SEPV2

The program started with Germany, France, Britain and the Netherlands in 1995. France left in 1999 to develop the french Boxer (VBCI), Britain left in 2003. The first vehicle was delivered in 2009. Britain rejoined the program in 2018. So yes, it’s mostly german.

I dunno they seem to have a great industry thing going for them, at least outwardly when it comes to export, look at when the UK tried to export stuff (Challenger 2E to Greece).

BAe did a better job marketing the the Gripen for Sweden than they did the bloody harrier.

but look at gajin doing a 180 and giving the boxer to israel because of the turret and it being their first IFV and spike carrier

Interesting

Wait, France started on the Boxer ?

The prototypes appeared the same year the UK left, the newer modules sure you can say things like the one with Rheinmetall weapons systems I concede that but the actual chassis still used British parts even after we left.

export yeah… internaly? we are way underfunded hell your typhoons, tornados are more modern. and we are missing a lot equipment

I just looked at some information about what I missed in the U.K. For example, in the 1990s, the F-117A or U.K. regularization of version, Bae System Replica, British Aerospace P.1233-1 Saba (helicopter hunter aircraft and attacker) ect…

jumped ship to develop the VBCI, france being france basicaly

Well, it’s a bit like the Yak-141, but this time it was actually fully completed, flew and isn’t for a nation that doesn’t actually need a prototype to fill top tier spots

We do better alone, indeed. x))))

And don’t start it, other EF country actual are made on Germany.

Seems like it was pretty typical for france at the time. Start a program with other nations, realize that they had to make shared decisions and just going “nah we out”.
