Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up and Discussion (Part 1)

That does not change the situation revolving around the Gripen, it’s only partially government owned and we are still talking about a unarmed Jet Fighter that is being operated only for research purposes by aspiring test-pilots and aeronautical engineers

Barak I wouldn’t carry radar missiles iirc

The Barak I is just a C variant, and the block 50 in the American tree never carried AIM-7s nor could the ones in American service guide them.

So do the Alpha Jets and the A-4s owned by Top Aces.
How does that matter if they don’t use it for combat or any kind of combat research/training?

Barak I is Block 30 while Barak II is Block 40 which makes a difference

They could tho. American Block 50 and Israeli Block 40 use the same radar set which allowed for AIM-7F+ missiles guidance by MPRF radar mode without the need for CW illuminator. It was proven on many occasions now.

Yet you and others are talking like this is a done deal based on Smin not denying it, past exceptions to Gaijins rules for implementation and weapons grade hopium

I was simply saying that it hasn’t been denied, not that it is what will be added.

If you really want fun:

It would have really brought something unique if the event was with this one.

Imagine emmerging by surprise a few dozen meters from a cruiser, sending a salvo of 2x203mm at short range into the ammunition, as well as a few torpedoes.

While you’re at it, you can also fire torpedoes at the stern AND the sides.

And if you get bored among the wrecks, you can take the plane out and cap. xD

I’m pretty sure submersible cruisers were made to loophole the naval treaty at the time.

They also don’t model irl reliability or other early missile specific issues.

I think Falcons would work just fine, even early models and if having a proxy fuse is a must XAIM-4H exists and is a totally valid option given gaijins past decisions on giving missiles to vehicles that didnt have them for balance reasons.

it would open up the opportunity to add alot more interesting 50s-60s era jets but sadly they seem adamant on being against them for whatever reason. Same goes for some of the soviet interceptors from the same era IE: Fishpot, Flagon, firebar ect. All of those and things like the 101,102,106 for the US would be very good and fun additions to the game.

They (The Century series; F-101, F-102, F-105, F-106) were mentioned alongside the F-105 two and a bit years ago (July, 2021) in a Dev Q&A, the F-105D was added with Winged Lions (December, 2021) and nothing since then so I have basically given up at this point.

They would serve as pretty good options for Patches where the META doesn’t need to be pushed forward by the US to give other nations time to catch up / push ahead. They obviously won’t be meta at this point but it would still be fun since the Falcon & MA-1 / IRST combo really aren’t bad, the AIM-4D as an option for the F-4C / F-4E would be nice too.

We’ve had this discussion a dozen times on the old forum. The later model AIM-4s, especially the XAIM-4H, are better than the AIM-9B, 9C, and 9D in (iirc) every way except for lacking proxy fuse, which the 4H does have. I even find that most of the early missiles either make impact, or would have made impact if they didn’t prox on the target.
I don’t know why they’re still refusing to add the AIM-4. Wont make them as much money as modern classified stuff, I guess.
