Next Major Update - "Eagle's Shadow" Rumour Roundup & Discussion (Part 2)

Initial Text

Hey Smin, I understand why the model was updated (although the report was baloney), but why are the developers insistent that the IA isn’t planned to have MAWS? And why are they calling it images of the real IA lmao?

As can be seen here, Boeing renders of it with MAWS sensors on the nose blisters do exist (even if it’s low quality and poorly textured).

Boeing’s site states it will get a MAWS too:

How did the initial bug report to remove it even get through lol, renders shouldn’t even matter to begin with. I understand not wanting it for the Eagle IIs so you can have parity and balance between them, and if that’s the case just state that desire. I’m fine with it as is rn, but if one gets it, both should get it.

Edit: Nvm, they did exactly as I wished lol

Not quite, MRML compatibility cannot be assumed for Strike Eagles by default. It was integrated on the Golden Eagle, and it used by default on the Eagle II. However, no information suggests default compatibility for the MRML rack is present on any Strike Eagles. Proof of some sort would be required in this case.

since it doesn’t exist they can buff or nerf it how the want and use real pictures from there dreams

Could this be used as a pro argument for LWS for the German 2a8? Just curious. The Author states the following: “…We also need to further improve protection, including against kinetic threats and detection by laser targeting systems.”

nvm, I dont think i understood it completely xd

nah he just says further development is needed, aka for the future, just wait till we see in service 2A8 or the testbed 2A7A1

I don’t think anything in the game even has enough flares to defeat that loadout.

that would be 50-60

30 it would still be dangerous if you don’t start evading soon, at your usual early game altitudes
MICA IR won’t be FOX-3 levels of kinematics, nor your usual FOX-2, but somewhere in between, almost same for ASRAAM, though it remains to be seen how ASRAAM will be able to lock at those range

much smaller, probably not so good at those ranges

From my understanding, more or less same thrust as MICA, but poorer ballistic coefficient cause lighter. Don’t know enough about ASRAAM to definitively tell tbh, but considering what is known, i expect it to be in a similar ballpark as MICA IR whan it comes to range, unlike the rest of IIR missiles

MICA IR i don’t expect to be that annoying in early games, but end game it will be a pain to deal with, no idea how Gaijin will balance this out, probably by giving it a poor seeker as they always do when they introduce the next generation of IR missiles

MICA NG IR is where it gets more troublesome, because this thing will be a genuine pain to deal with even at distances where current MICA EM is basically defeated, but then again by then we’ll probably have very long range ARH with AESA seekers potentially. A question for a long time away from now anyway

Not really the case though, ASRAAM is built to have minimal drag as you can see in its design and using a strong booster to reach those further ranges which common IR missiles can’t.

oh neat, france is getting 2 types of cluster bombs which is pretty big since the datamine had zero french cluster bombs

Well, interestingly the MICA IR could be one of those missiles that is fired early games and then just glide itself and slowly inch towards unsuspecting targets. So people would notch and chaff early game missiles only to turn in and then get hit by a MICA IR that they didn’t know was there. It would be very slow at that point in its approach and could probably be dodged due to having little to no energy left if the target knew it was there. But again, requires that the target knows it’s there.

@Smin1080p_WT Sorry for the Tag, but Why, why, with the new model for the Kugelblitz, now it TOO just like many Pz III and IV chassis, the hull mg ball is only 20-45mm thick, when i already reported it to be wrong since now 3 years. A solid steel ball, able to be penetrated in game by Cal. 50, which IRL was to offer still the same protection as the Frontal plate, which it completly moves trough from one side to the other. Can you maybe please update it internally or so? Even the outer ring.

considering base CAMM (which is just the ASRAAM) has a range of 25km when ground launched with an effective range of probably around 20-22km I imagine air launched ASRAAM probably can reach 30km pretty easily, its stated max range is about 50km if I remember right

we might even have some specifications for the AIM-260 by then

it will be better in range than 9X, IRIS-T, R74M, PL-10, but not as strong as some say.

where is this from?

I see where you’re getting at, but idk if it has battery life to do that

Not counting missiles randomly departing in spins at low speeds.

Still i expect it to be one of the most annoying Fox-2s to face
And it will finally give a credible option against multipath, i’m especially eager for MICA IR on my CAP sorties in ground RB

It’s from a MBDA presentation that was posted in the EF forum ages ago.
