I increased MICA IR’s drag compared to MICA EM with the primary sources I have now. Is 30km really the absolute max range?

That’s the thing, if an AIM-120 or R-77 was launched at you but you had no RWR warning, even if you were turning around and not flying straight, you’re still getting hit without notching and chaffing it.

But how in the world is mica em better at range than AIM-120A lol, even early AMRAAM should be much better for long range

MICA EM just gets to 30km quicker than AIM-120A. AIM-120A still has more range, but at useful ranges like 20-30km, the MICAs are much quicker due to shorter burntime meaning it accelerates a lot more.

they will have SOME kind of counter this is a game they wont be that IR hungry

Not really a thing. Multiple ranks have more than 3 in any given nation
The counter could be that they won’t allow LOAL and only that you can fire in LOBL until every nation gets a plane with MAWS, that might be F-22 or F-35 for the US.

You’re getting it confused with IRST. F-22 early didn’t have IRST, all F-22s have MAWS.
