i mean in that case it showed a range of 0km
so who knows
if the r-74m didnt just get more battery live then it has to have a better rocket motor

So instead of being a straight up worse Abrams like the other Leclercs, the XLR will be a straight up worse Abrams with gen3 thermals? Great improvement.
I absolutely agree, but not because it will actually help top tier France.
The only thing the XLR adds (even with Shard) is QoL, so since it’s not a significant buff to the top tier French lineup there is no reason why it shouldn’t be here already.
Or its just a software trajectory improvement
Honestly? Doesn’t matter if it’s a worse Abrams, it’s a French domestic tank and an improvement over the other french domestic tank. That’s really the only thing that matters to me and many others. There’s a reason why there’s no Leopard 2s in my lineups, even if they are better or if they add Leopard 2A8 from Dutch to the French tech tree, I would not hesitate to agree that it is better than what the French offers but it isn’t French, so wouldn’t matter to me.
it is 1kg heavier
so that indicates that they changed something in the internal layout of the 74m compared to the 73
Nah, new motor. Does 0.05AU per second.
/s
I didn’t know lines of code added 1kg.
Could be new seeker
that is my point
something in the internal layout changed
I respect that mindset even if I have a different one, however if you actively want Gaijin to keep adding meh vehicles (let’s stay grounded here, it’s very unlikely for Gaijin to ever improve the Leclercs) than you kind of lose any ground to complain on about Gaijin mistreating your nation by only giving you meh vehicles.
(and yes, due to their implementation the Leclercs are just meh, shard won’t change that)
Maybe seeker draws more power, so battery has to be slightly bigger to get the same total time.
Or more coolant
still you wont achive an extra 10km of max range with the same battery life, motor and dimensions
(the r-74m has 40km of max range)
@Smin1080p_WT If we have sources for a Tank which currently has no IRST Tracking, that the Commander sight has a Auto Tracking capability, can that be reported or nah?
Better optimized grain pattern?
well that would fall under a different motor
your guess is as good as mine
Now, here comes my very complex and specialised argument: both tanks look awesome, and I hope we’ll see the Leclerc XLR very soon, as well as a Dutch Leopard 2A8 once those actually enter service.
Yup, I’m fully aware of that. I’m aware the Leclercs weren’t improved much over the years than say for example the Leopard 2 platform, and really I preach the same thing, no one should complain about anything until they have evidence and they have made a report and the report has been accepted, anything less than that should be ignored.
Interestingly people are arguing for Dutch Leo 2A8 to be added anyway even if not in service yet because Gaijin has now added F-15IA despite that only being “ordered”.
Gaijin won’t probably add planned ground vehicles since they can change more over time
Yeah, I’m personally against it unless the model is updated to more accurately represent the actual service vehicle once it enters service. As it currently stands, we’d either get an approximation of what the new vehicle will eventually look like or a version that doesn’t fully reflect its final service configuration (iirc, German Leopard 2A8s are also slated to receive LWS, etc.).
Yeah, the XLR is probably is the only realistic option seen that they didnt add the 2a8 this update, doubt that they add the evolution in a while either, the xlr while not amazing it is better than the other top tiers for france
Getting the super etendard with magic 2s would be great considering the etendard is still capable at 11.0+
