yeh for sure throughout the r73 life span the burn of its motor was either from 7 to 4.5s of burn time so you never know
yea it could have different propellant grain configuration.
i think this is the likely answer.
or just a more modern propellant as a whole
also better electronic clapped wings and maybe redesign body to accommodate new battery and longer rocket powder but for me the improve electric and shrink in size i what could made this happen
yeah.
cheak this lol Dubai Air Show- First international appearance of Russian RVV-MD2 short range air-to-air missile - EDR Magazine
:The missile has a mass of 117 kg the warhead mass being 8 kg, the maximum flight range is up to 50 km, and the maximum acceleration is up to 12 G
if true that mean the r74m-2 is about 12kg heavier than r73
the r-74m has the same dimensions as the r73
and it dosent look like they did anything that would lower its drag

they might have done so for the r-74m2 tho, besides the clipped wings, since its nose is shaped slightly differently and dosent have the AoA sensors there anymore
*maximum target G-load

if its true that it weights 117kg that easily explains why it has better range
