Would be awesome before the XM1069
I just think it’s cool, don’t read into it that much.
You will be able to engage helicopters at 8km without risking yourself. Notice helicopter, fire hellfire, hide behind a building, wait for success. Their ircm and flares won’t help.
And what if you go up against someone who isn’t playing Russia? Just because Russia doesn’t have the bleeding edge of CAS at the moment doesn’t mean that the US shouldn’t get a better SPAA. Other nations than the US and Russia exist you know…
USA and Britain should get the MMEV
MMEV has been suggested. comment on it here: Multi-Mission Effects Vehicle - #3 by TyTheGuy27
I mean thats a bit useful, tho they have options like shooting down the hellfire.
Cool vehicle we can see some day but it doesn’t improve the US spaa situation all that much.
The OSA is another good option, but the Tankies would’ve thrown a hissy fit if they didn’t get the absolute best thing available like the TOR
I doubt they would be able to spot it with their eyes. Also, the hellfire longbow has a curved path of flight, it would be hard to shoot down with a vikhr.
What
The F-16AJ and it’s TGP’less Mavericks?
Or maybe Germany with it’s Tornado…
Thermals is all that is needed.
Main issue is that aircraft have essentially free reign at any range, long or short range.
Both the Gripens and Barak are really good at CAS, and the Tornados, Harriers and the JH-7A can do the job even if they aren’t the best at it.
Kh29T lock range is hard coded at 7km iirc
And the flight ceiling of adats is at 7km, and the effective range way less. Being non stationary as a jet would alone defeat the missile. If you use your brains, you can’t be engaged by spaa while you can drop your fire and forget munitions.
ok sure lol
With the Kh-29T seeker alone? Good luck I guess.
This doesn’t even mention that the Pantsir gets 3.0x the missiles as the ADATS and also gets to not have to manually guide the missiles, which are other very important reasons the US needs new SPAA.
On par with having to guide your bombs by laser which is not fire and forget, and nuisance if you have to engage more than one target
Is US vs USSR the only matchup?
Anyways a Crotal derived system like M113 Liberty I would cover the US quite well.
If you find the top tier USSR CAS to be lacking id look at suggesting something to cover that.
TBH Im very surprised the Su-24 Fencer-M hasnt made its way into game yet, its a Russian Tornado equivalent
