What would be a good altitude?

Honestly depends on the map. If you’re on the likes of Sinai, maybe be 2km or below so you can use the dunes as cover. Vietnam and other Asian maps you can still be higher up and go back down behind mountains and hills. City maps are fair game. You shoot them, they cannot shoot you.

I hope they make some tweaks and such because I really need the TanSam to function how they do in real life. Struggled to hit low flying helis when the missile also has its own locking system on board. Meaning should be much more accurate.

The cs/sa5 is remarkably good at intercepting munitions if you use the ahead rounds. You can shoot down clouds of glide bombs and intercept mavericks and other such things that are going for people nowhere near you.

I’ve played both the irist and pantsir after the update, the iris is so much better its not even funny I’m not sure how you came to this conclusion. The radar for the pantsir is still absolutely godawful and barely works with the new radar screen (I can’t select and lock targets from there have to do it the old way then go back), still gets pulled off by chaff, missiles etc, and its not fnf like the iris in the sense you lose radar lock its cooked, the missiles don’t have anywhere near the energy at longer ranges etc.

You gotta explain this to me, unless you are only fighting good CAS players that are forcing fights within like 8km, and the person on the pantsir isn’t using the radar screen and is extremely good at manual saclos missile leading and dealing with the pantsir radar.

Different people, different skills I guess. As I mentioned, I had no problems with the Pantsir with intercepting rounds. My friend was unable to do much and unless we were far range, he wasn’t able to intercept. Pantsir at least has it’s guns to defend as a last resort. The IRIS-T is helpless.

Wasn’t that due to the proxy bug? I wasn’t able to shoot down kh38 a lot yesterday as well but supposedly thats fixed now. For killing planes though I don’t see it being better.

Its been like this for a very long time, if the target you are locked onto is firing any kind of missile or popping lots of chaff the buggy TWS will switch targets and by the time you reaquire it bleeds a ton of speed being jerked around.

Played another match with pantsir, I’m not the best at it, but I can promise you using the new radar screen is 100x worse than just ignoring it. And just like that thread I linked, I fire on an f16 2.5km away, should be a free kill, lock gets pulled off towards a zuni he fires, jerks back to him, then to chaff, and then hes below alt. 2S6 radar unironically better than this, because that wouldn’t happen. Being able to turn off the TWS function would be a massive buff currently to this thing.

I’ve had some issues with close range in radar, but in my experience, 3-9km works very well for me, farther back the better.

Adding another:

Due to small map sizes in top tier being small and these new SAM vehicles being huge, they need to extend the Spawn area ,would help a lot with additional cover with small buildings or rocks for some level of protection. Feels all compact and small at the moment where there is no escape or room for breathing.

this was me on the runway in spawn with nuke i was very annoyed to say the least so i really dont think the irst is bad

IRSI-T is by far the best new SAM out there, though too powerful to be doing that. They probably will need to relocate the AF since some modern SAMs have the potential to lock on landed or air born jets as well, not just those that are in the air.

how did the radar manage to find you? You were behind cover

on some maps the battlefield is higher than the airfields and you can get a direct view

and it seems some vehicle have direct LOS as one of the spotting eye icons is highlighted while he is taking off

They might need to move the airfields on some maps

Bruh I have played svs many time every time this map drops u start getting shot by every spaa even pantsir can do it but after takeoff not on runway irst did it because of it seeker

@Ωκεανος Found a way to make the missiles aim up. Still won’t help too much due to radar ain’t picking up targets, but its something at least. Just got to make the rear of the Type 81 aim up by finding steep hills or rocks, buildings etc…

I’ll try that out, hopefully I won’t get sniped by an HE round with my missiles peeking out like that lol

I have been trying the US today.

So far it has not been bad. The aim120 can be hit or miss but helis and any jet that wants get close is 100% dead via aim9x

Its about the best thing the Tan Sam can only do lol Great for stopping incoming missiles, sucks at destroying aircraft targets unfortunately.
