hey guys i’ve noticed the new iris‑t slm and claws sl‑amraam are way too strong as first‑spawn vehicles. you spawn one right away and drones get locked on and blown up in like 10 seconds before they even cross half the map. there’s no way to dodge or flare, so you waste spawn points if you bring a drone early. i get wanting some aa when cas is everywhere, but right now if someone pops aa first your drone is dead instantly. maybe gaijin could stop those aa vehicles from being first spawns. anyone else agree? Edit: Disclaimer: Any comments that resort solely to ad hominem attacks will be ignored. I’ll only engage with logical, point based discussion. I forgot to mention that my stance is that there shouldnt be a full counter to drones in this sense where there is nothing the drone user can do once that missle is launched. Reason being is the last update had a similar issue of su 34 missles leaving most anti air players with a very slim window of skill to simply not get hit by the missles.
No i really cannot ability to kill a drone is must specially when they can just easily lower spawn point plus mark the whole team plus the spaa make everyone a free target for cas plus it looks like arcade whole team gets scouted plus it is a way too great advantage to be left like that
light tanks at top tier majorly suck and perform way worse then other vehicles that’s why it makes sense for them to be a support role. and matches last less then 10 minutes which is already arcade like at this point. and lowering spawn points is valid as the vehicle itself sucks except for very few vehicles. I’m thinking maybe allow backup drones or a way to respawn them faster then a 30 second site reload. Edit: from my experience ill get 1 of every 10 matches where someone is actually capable of using a drone to its fullest the majority of the time its someone simply using the mark enemy button and not even scouting, which to me seems like yes its strong but it is difficult for people to fully use. I could even argue that to do all of that discussed with drones require allot of skill.
I hate scout drones almost as much as kh-38s so no.
OKay lets meet in the middle, make them actually be able to be hit by MG fire and take damage (a drone that size isnt surviving a 12.7mm), remove the IR camera pod and use a regular camera and make it a module that lets the user choose whether they want a drone, or CAS SP lowering scout ability (with the ability to still scout just without the SP modifier)
im not sure yet on what the solution is yet until we can mainly agree on the facts of things like how its countering everything except jets mainly because there are too many loud voices who claim this is balanced simply because they hated the Russian bias of before the update which is fighting fire with fire and before the update the majority of players played ground and now its shifted to air which is sad. but i still defend the droning and scouting being allowed on light tanks because like i said they are underperforming from 10.3 and up except for a few outliers. i would be willing to agree that certain light tanks shouldn’t have it like 2s38 possible or hstvl. but to nerf vehicles like the vbci would be ridiculous especially since very few players use drones well enough compared to the cas spam which can be argued is a skill.

i am aware you do not care about having logical discussions. I will say that using scouts in that manner you described is not an exploit just because you don’t like it or cant mimic it yourself.
i don’t use recon to spawn overpowered russian CAS, and certainly not with an exploit

Logical discussion is thinking of ways to balance… not complain that something has a counter… perhaps it is light tanks with the scout ability which are too low SP for first spawn?
You cant have your cake and eat it too. Those drones are broken in such a way an AAM or proxy fuse shells are the ONLY way to destroy them, a very poor decision to have even been put in the game.
Considering your most played vehicle is a top BR helicopter, yeah pretty sure Excalibur is right, you are just complaining because your helicopter meal ticket finally got punched this patch
Just because I’ve flown helis allot and know their strengths and weaknesses inside out doesn’t mean I’m biased sad I even have to point that out. And AA was meant to be the counter against jet spam, not a blanket sky‑clearer that wipes out helis and drones with no room for them to insert still to avoid that and fight back. I can agree that it is too difficult to kill a drone with a MBT but having AA delete every air unit at match start with no room for skill is my argument. Wanting room for skill expression in every matchup isn’t complaining it’s what keeps the game deep and fun. please stop using ad hominem attacks like its a political debate its quite boring. lets keep this conversation intelligent to scare away the Excalibur’s of the community. the fact that you’re admitting to spawning the micro recon very early in-game proves my point that you’re exploiting the LOS bug. that specific behavior (and half the enemy team getting scouted) only became prevalent in the last few months. probably went viral on social media as a quick way to get CAS.
skilled/genuine recon drone users prefer to use it late game, when it’s much more powerful and actually has an impact for the team.

Maybe because light tanks are designed to flank and scout?
