RWR definitely needs a rework to be able to filter what is actually a threat at launching you and what is launching on your teammate 20 miles away. I have my RWR sensitivity set to 60% and I still have constant launch warnings from S300s the second I go above 50m, yet I can look at them off in the distance and see their missile trails going in a completely different direction from me.
Walked into wrong neighborhood
So sad it’s over :,(
Waiting for ALARM on EFTs be like. :P
Technically, GBU53/Spice250 have MITL option. However, seeker restriction means any attempt to use it bricks the bomb, as it continues high loft-vertical drop trajectory, while unable to look down.
And when rewatching usage in Sensor View, Spice250/GBU-53 launched through Aiming Point fly on IOG (and GNSS I presume) on entire flight until it enters dive, then switches to TRK on whatever it finds in provided location.
Ordnance dropped through good ol POINT lock, start in TRK immediately
Gaijin simply applies multiplier to the ordnance, so they could go with 0.4-0.5 or something similar, compared to 0.3 on GBU-39/53/Spice250 or 0.1 on JSOW. They also could lower “RCS” for 500lb equivalents when they are at it.
Italian Tornado with four wideband, IOG capable HARMs, GBU-39 as an option and actual modern RWR, bringing more ARMs than everything Russia have until 13.7 or paywalled Sus39:
Honorable mention goes to A-10C, carrying 24 GBU-39s and supreme targeting pod, or mix of 39s, 64 and 62 for every target of opportunity. Flight model is lacking for long range bomb launches, but something like 3000m, 450kmh TAS already outranges Osas with healthy margin.
These are far from “really good launch parameters”. Replace altitude with 11km+ then you’re talking.
Spice250/GBU53 have no issues fondling S300 site 70km away when dropped at 12km alt and still having ample altitude as they enter final dive. 39 shares their flight characteristic
I just can’t play anything else, premium time ended anyway so I guess see you guys at the next Nuclear Escalation run. Hopefully it’s soon!
Sure… let me climb my A10 to 11km and drop all those sweet sweet gbu’s at something around M0.4. While being shot by, like, half the map.
You could at least read whan you reply to. I know, asking much, but oh well.
Edit: for future reference, keep in mind that A-10C loaded with just 39’s, min. fuel and absolutely nothing else has a climb rate of about 11m/s. So climbing “just” 4-5km isnt gonna be easy either.
I’m flying the MKM so I get to shoot at the russian SPAAs. Su30’s ESM search can lock onto tunguska search radar, but Kh31PD cannot.
You are comparing paywalling an ability to mix and match AMRs with paywalling the one and only blue aircraft in low-br bracket capable of effortlessly doing things like this:

I had mild hopes that why those two are on whole different levels would be obvious and not need further explaining, yet somehow here we are.
just wait a little more, he’s in mid course to hti the target
I’ve been flying out stock A-10C yesterday and yet, demolishing frontline assets was a breeze since I’ve got targeting pod and 39s. Low flying gun runs also can be surprisingly effective, with BMP-2s being much bigger threat than Osa. Eventually I’ll probably unlock APWKS and I’m curious about those laser guided rockets, if they outrange low speed, low alt 39s.
For actual SEAD of medium range AA, you have other aircraft I’ve mentioned and your selective reading conveniently omitted.
Yeah once you get within a km or two the OSAs won’t even try to shoot missiles at you. But the BMP’s 30mm is laser accurate and WILL pilot snipe you regularly, even in a fighter jet.
I do hope they do eventually add the GBU-53 and AGM-187A to the A-10C though, at least for nuke thunder. It can carry both of them because they are carried with the BRU-61A rack which it uses for the GBU-39s, and there are no modifications needed for them to be loaded onto the rack. And the brochure for the AGM-187A even specifically mentions use on the A-10C.
I dont see what are you on about. The whole conversation without you was about A-10 not having too good of a time lobbing long-range 39’s from high alt high speed as it usually doesnt have either. All that is in sharp contrast with 27K just slinging kh31’s here and there from zero alt zero speed pretty much.
And you just come in with “muh those are bad launch conditions, just climb 12km”. Good to know. Thanks a lot.
Never been able to get 39s to work on the 10C. It’s either go into BUK/S-300 engagement window, or close in to SHORAD engagement range because of the low speed and altitude restriction.
APKWS rockets unfortunately suck. They don’t have enough raw explosives to reliably kill SHORAD units unless you somehow hit a missile tube… and their seeker FoV for laser guidance plus the fact they’re Hydra 70s means you’re better off using literally anything else, to include dumb fire Hydras.
Do you mean cannot lock on tracking radar? Tracking radar of Tunguska is J-band and search radar is E-band. Kh-31PD cant detect J-band.
Plus ability to double amount of potential frags with kh25mpu. Thats quite big deal.
Speaking of levels. Another 2 examples came up. Do soviets have supersonic jet with 8 ir fnf munitions (f111f)? Or at least 8 tv fnf (kurnass/f4e)? None of that is paywalled. And none of that faces top tier sams like it used to in grb.
Just bring it back!
Hey look thats me. Nevermind that you only got two Kh-31, and they are sometimes intercepted. A single player needs 5 sorties minimum to take out all hawk positions because each has two targeting radars. But its pretty busted i agree.
