I am very tired of repeating this, if you did not try those weapons in nuclear thunder you should not talk.
The first thing i do every nuclear thunder event is try every a2g weapon against different targets and with different approaches.
No redfor weapon work against current ground targets.
Only the kh31 work against LR sams and ships, but now you have to use the kh31pd exactly how you would use an agm88c, getting really fast and really high and firing inside 30km to the long range SAM or do a pop up attack also inside 30km.
Btw all Trash-25 variants with R-73 should go over 12.0 BR in that mode. Same with A-10s with 9M. And in general they should tier planes with regards to what armament they get.
I don’t care if a MiG 23 is faster , if the 39 has missiles that reach longer, IRCM , R-73 etc.
Not only , but it can really make 3 nukes in one pass … like wtf…
Nonsense.I have about the same effectivess with Kh-29TD as with GBU-53 when attacking ground targets. They both get shot down extremely easily by SHORADS, but GBU-53 very often misses anyway so it doesn’t matter you have a bit more of them.
No A-G weapons work for any side. Also Kh31PD is limited now to 30km launches yes, but it can still take out SAMPTs way quicker than GBU-39 can take out S-300.
2S6/Ito90 are the problem that makes CAS unrewarding and frustrating
I’ve literally tried out the weapons, I used the KH31 in the su30sm2 and my friend used the kh38’s in the su25sm3 (keep in mind this mean he was flying the su25sm3 at top tier) and he was quite literally 2nd place in the team from all the ground targets he killed with them. For my post I asked for his input and literally wrote what he said I.e. “they require line of sight so you have to fly high which can get you killed but other than that they work well” and, I cannot stress this enough the kh38s are in no way close to the same type of weapon as the JSOW or glide bombs, compare the kh38s with other line of sight missiles like mavericks, brimstones and Slam-ERs
Also using the kh31 like a HARM is literally such a bad idea. From my own experience, (so “if you did not try those weapons in nuclear thunder you should not talk.”, I can talk, yes?) they should be launched from further distances than the harms, since they go fast and fly to the stratosphere, they seem to rarely actually get intercepted, with the only real problem being they’re somewhat inaccurate (usually only giving a hit on the selected target) the HARM meanwhile, flies slow (compared to the kh31) and in a relatively straight like toward the enemy radar (it is a beam riding missile after all) I regularly have to fire at least 2 HARMS within 10km of a 2s6 to have any effect, usually more.
I’ll restate, the only problem I’ve found with the kh31s (both the naval and SEAD versions) is that their accuracy leaves a lot to be desired.
Also, please at least try to have a civil discussion instead of acting like anyone who has an opinion shouldn’t.
Yea that’s what I assumed was happening, launching from within 30km is something I’ll keep in mind, i probably did that a few times without realizing and that’s the times I got kills.
The naval version doesn’t even require that tho, i just launched em basically straight off the airfield and still got a kill, on the carrier even
Let me be honest, Im having a blast playing this mode, yes there are some things that should be fixed and balanced but overall going to bomb AA or bases or ships and fight other jets is just sooo fun… I really hope this becomes standard mode. now imagine if they put in ground and helicopter’s , oh boy this game becomes untouchable.
Using kh31 is litterally rng, even from 20-25km the sampt can shut off radar and the inertial guidance is so overnerfed that will hit 5-10km away even if the radar is shut down in the final stage of the arm flight.
Kh38 get intercepted easily, you can only kill unprotected targets or focus on convoys always with rng results.
Using gbu39/53 and jsow you can wipe out anything that is stationary at any range and under every condition and guarantee success.
Why talk about things you don’t know? Launching kh31 from further than 30km will make the sampt shut off the radar.
If your opinion is factually wrong and you talk like you did things that you clearly didn’t then there is no point in having a civil discussion, this is a forum and you are litterally gaslighting honest conversations…
Also and that VERY IMPORTANT. When a dogfight happens. Make the TRASH of SAMs stop doing ANYTHING. Not only the crap on the few dogfights, but they go blue on blue as well… they are stupid.
My dude, its literally in the modern bracket, you can see the kh38 killing ITOs as well as targets that were protected (Depots, and convoy vehicles), and once again this is in an su25, which is way less capable than if you were to mount the kh38s on the planes that are actually supposed to be in the late era.
Anyway, heres my quick stint in the su30 using the kh31PD’s:
Keep in mind i dont play the russians much and dont have the SAMP and EWR sites memorized like i do when playing Bluefor. As you can see, the kh31 works fine. Granted i would probably have gotten more of em, but i died a lot to bluefor aircraft and dont have the sites location memorized.
And once again, I know the gbu39 and JSOW are good, but they are vastly different weapon systems compared to the the kh38 and kh31 and should not be compared 1:1. You genuinely cannot be complaining that a high speed IR/Laser guided missile isnt performing similarly to low cross section GNSS glide bombs.
Should Russia get a similar weapon to the GBU39? sure, i think it would give the russians more to work with. Are the JSOW and GBU39 way better than anything the russians have, not really, just different.
If you want a similar weapon try out the Grom-2’s since that would actually be similar to the JSOWs
I’m not opposed to this in honesty, given that it’s an equivalent. Main issue is 250kg /= 250lbs, so it’s RCS value puts it closer to a GBU-56, which all SAMs can detect fairly accurately.
Well, gaijin said there working on making accurate RCS calculations for munitions in the future (probably next major update) and the current RCS ones are just either approximations or guesswork. We’ll have to see how each munition changes whenever they fully implement it
