New Player Buff

I’ve tried looking it up, and they deny there is a new player buff… but my experience has been telling me otherwise. Has anybody else been experiencing insane amounts of 1 shots from new players, specifically players under lv 30?? I’ve gotten really good in air arcade the past couple months, averaging 4.4 kills per flyout. But I’ve noticed a majority of my deaths are coming from being pilot sniped, wing blown off in 1 shot or instantly killing my engine from players under lv 30.
I know a good shot when I see it but at least 80% of my deaths are from what I just described while I’m already dodging a head on or performing erratic evasive maneuvers. This new player buff 100% seems to be a real thing and is really putting me off of the game.
Just wondering if anyone else is seeing the same thing I am, it really seems to be the last month that this has gotten worse.

It’s like my engine, pilot’s head or wings have magnets in them that only apply to low level players…

No I have not experienced anything of the sort, I’d say it’s confirmation bias at work. Check the server replays if you are doubtful, you can see the shots in slow motion, do they behave weird there?

Yeah yesterday I had a lv 8 player in a P-38 going up and to the right, I clearly saw his guns weren’t aligned with me and I still got pilot sniped. So not a maneuverable plane at all, the only explanation I could think of is he’s having packet loss or new player buff. That shot made me exit the game…

Pretty sure shots are client sided, if you have high ping, or the opponent does, shots can look very off. Checking the replay will reveal what the server actually ‘saw’ and decided to damage you with.

Edit: nevermind looks to be server sided, but pretty sure ping still impacts a lot what you see.

Yeah I hear you, but I have on average only 43 ping and this is a pretty common occurrence especially the past month that’s why I’ve been checking player cards after I die. It’s overwhelmingly new players that get the ridiculous shots/1 shots on me.

a bad habit to get into, if you die its like 75% your own fault

arcade does have lead indicators to help newbies out, it is also one of the more common places to find newbies

as has been said, likely confirmation bias

Overwhelmingly new players play low tier, there’s like 100 different reasons and biases it feels like some buff when it isn’t. Could be as simple as veterans don’t shoot unlikely lucky shots, they don’t rely on lucky sprays. It’s a huge stretch to come to the conclusion that there’s some new player buff. Maybe if it was some other game it’d be believable, but warthunder? The game where players with 10000 hours can easily go against complete newbies, it’s simply not something they’d implement before they’d remove seal clubbing.

I just checked the replay on the P-38 I was talking about, it was super close range and he 100% did not have guns on me. His plane was above me and turning up and to the right… with only nose mounted guns that shot should have been impossible yet I got pilot snipped. It’s happening way too often to be confirmation bias + I’ve gotten really good overall but especially with head-ons I will kill experienced players but get annihilated by new players.

client replay or server replay?

I highly doubt gaijin would make a new player buff, also sometimes the shots from an opponent that are aimed off target will spread and hit you. Sure it’s unlucky, but I doubt the bullets are just being targeted at you

Ping does greatly affect where the shots appear on your side.

When it comes to stuff like spaa, the rounds can appear to be 100m off at times and still hit you.

Respectfully bro, anyone under 3000 matches is just as new as the people killing you

Yep SPAAG desync is really annoying, eapecially with Oerlikon 35mm systems
