We’ll see more players choosing to press J rather than trying to repair their vehicles behind cover, because this only increases repair times or renders tanks combat-ineffective. Even before these modules were introduced, tanks could still fight back despite suffering significant damage, giving them a chance to survive for a few more minutes.
We’re heading down a dark path, driving more and more players away…
You’re pulling a victim card because of tanks that normally dont have an APU and now will have a chance to manually reload a shell after whole 30 seconds?
Not many MBT’s have them modeled but they already have FCS, the only thing missing rn is power system (just one more system to soak up damage in tanks really) and APU.
But , afaik, they were modelled but didnt do anything. Yet. And russian tanks also will get their firing control modules.
So, as with everything that is announced, in a way we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out. no normal player can know yet how it will be implemented. Might (and thats what i hope) be in a way that also russian/chinese tanks are more reliably critically damaged when hit from the side and not only so they lose the autoloader, maybe one crew but have now 5-6 seconds to aim and oneshot/easily disable you, should you have made the enormous mistake of missing the ammo by 5 cm in a clear 90° sideshot.
"A direct comparison between the Merkava Mk.4 and the T-90M: Why are Russian tanks missing hydraulic or power unit modules attached to their weapon drives? Yet, they somehow function identically. Without hydraulic or electric power, shouldn’t they revert to manual traverse and elevation, making them significantly slower?
And why aren’t turret basket components modeled for them? Isn’t the autoloader assembly mounted directly to the turret basket frame? An autoloader can’t just float in mid-air. Is Gaijin even doing their job properly?"
I’m not sure how you define “not many,” but: Germany, Sweden, Great Britain, Italy, France, and Israel already have it… 6 out of 10 seems like more than half to me. The USA uses a hydraulic pump, which is an additional component, anyway. Obviously, I’m referring to MBTs, the rest is a separate matter XD
Yeah, I know. I was just clarifying for other members earlier who were talking as if Russian tanks already had these systems implemented. They’re tearing it apart, and rightly so.
Basically if your power is 0 your autoloader doesnt function, if you have APU you wont have it go to 0, but if both engine and APU die your power will start dying.
I think we need to hear the APU’s noise level first. While the feature itself seems positive, the power system implementation is not.
I’m not sure if we really need to go through the same unpleasant experiences in MBTs—like the fires and delays in repairs times we had with light tanks.
With the APU added, there’s no need to introduce overly complex, realistic systems like a tank simulator. Keeping power-related modules limited to just the engine and the APU is appropriate, and I believe the power system should be removed from light tanks and other vehicles entirely.
If they had to add something, maybe separating individual battery cells and buses like ammunition stowage—so power remains available even if a few are destroyed—would make sense. But looking at the current module layout scattered all over, where losing just one component disables critical features like LWS or IRST tracking, I have my doubts.
I also think adding manual loading for autoloader vehicles was necessary, but considering the investment required for crews on manually-loaded vehicles, the advantage of autoloaders feels even greater now. Thankfully, the reload time is at least long.
It really makes me miss the older version—even if the balance was a bit off, at least you didn’t have to micromanage all these tiny, tedious parts.
"I am deeply frustrated. Before granting manual loading capabilities to autoloader-equipped Russian and Chinese tanks, Gaijin’s top priority should have been adding missing internal components—such as turret baskets, power units, and hydraulic systems—with volumetric modeling comparable to Western tanks at equivalent ranks.
I strongly feel that Gaijin is failing to do their job properly, given the clear unfair advantage Russian tanks receive from their internal module modeling. Frankly, it even feels intentional. (I have unlocked the entire Russian tech tree myself, but honestly, this bias is only getting worse over time.)"
One thing I don’t understand, is, why do people never talk about the BMPT not having a turret basket?? It was added in an update where EVERY single high tier vehicle received it, no matter if it was a medium/light tank, spaa etc. If there is a vehicle where theres not any excuse against it then its this, because the turret crew/ammo rotates with the turret which is above them. bias is clear as day…
