New Mobility and Steering Features - Feedback Discussion

Once again, your turret was fully turned before it was clear of the NATO hump, it does not make a difference.

War Thunder is a game, not a simulator. The most important premise is to be fun to play. Regenerative steering lessens the amount of fun I get from WT, therefore it goes against the most important premise of WT.

Gaijin added countless realistic features over the years that only made the game “worse”. In fact the whole damage system just lessens the ammount of fun since you can be one shot, so by that logic a HP based system would be a lot better.

That’s my current sentiment on the situation if they can’t get it to drive correctly it’ll put me off playing ground, sc for example changed their entire fight model and I’m yet to go back years later, didn’t feel the same to play or better. fundamentally it needs to be the same or better for people to adopt the new system. All I can do is give feedback

Anyway, I did some testing myself and it looks like the current dev server steering is same or even slower than live server.

Khalid test

IPM1 test

Don’t agree with that, you’ve always been able to be one shot

I never said realism always lessens the amount of fun. You’re fighting a strawman you made

Yes, it’s mostly the same for me, except i’ll probably still play because i’m addicted to “Target destroyed” or something

Take the standard M1 Abrams up the hill into the trenches on the right hand side after you cross the river and try and navigate through on the live then the dev. Think of it like trying to navigate through a city map full of dead tanks and you’ll seen the problem more so imo.

I think the route I’m currently doing is already good enough to emulate driving on most maps (except the unfun ones like Red desert or Darwin hill). Besides, I’m already tired of testing RS, maybe tomorrow

Totally fair, I also test that route as well for higher speed situations, the trench area really highlights the low speed input issue imo.

High maneuverability is more important than maintaining speed. That’s hardly something worth arguing about.

Secondly, you’re conveniently ignoring the fact that the problems with the new mechanics aren’t limited to 180-degree turns. They affect pretty much every kind of turn imaginable. Even when simply holding an important position, maneuvering your tank becomes a pain in the ass! I literally have to stop my tank and wait for it to pivot in place just to turn around. That’s inconvenient and frustrating.

If you genuinely believe this is a good mechanic for this game, then either you don’t understand the game at all or you’re deliberately trying to ruin it.

Amx30 also feels farrrrr too stiff for a lighter tank, I don’t know what the neutral steering changes where about but this thing feels like a and oil tanker in corners, the 1/2 gears (bug) seems to be really problematic with this one.

This from today ??

Do you mean the video? No, I recorded this video yesterday.

thought so, try it again today after the update, its not as bad as that video but needs work

I joined the test today and, to be honest, I didn’t notice any changes. Did they change anything?

it was updated, to my understanding some changes were made to the M1 Abrams mobility, small changes but going in the right direction

Whoever was driving clearly needs to be fired & replaced.

I think you misunderstood my comment, I don’t want a HP system

And just like in the last test you are conveniently ignoring every single tank except probably the worst one. Like I’ve said the Type 10 and T-80BVM is the “goal”. I’ve never said that they should put this in the game as it is, just keep working on it. I’ve even said that I wouldn’t mind if they would make RS better than IRL if needed, just like how planes can pull more G’s than IRL.

So if I understand it correctly, you consider the BVM to be faster on dev, right?
