First impressions for the Double Differential tanks
It’s a huge improvement compared to the previous test, every tank is a lot more controllable and handles a lot more fluid. Especially the Type 10, it’s very agile. The steering+braking making the tank go down a gear is a huge help. Braking also feels a lot smoother than in the previous test.
Bugs/Problems: However the throttle is still fully on while holding A or D only. Also using Brake+Turn to go down a gear doesn’t work for 2->1 for some reason, it instantly goes to Neutral from 2nd gear.
First impressions for the Dual Transmission tanks
The T-80BVM is pretty much OP, this thing is even more insane than the Type 10 currently which will surely go down well with the community lol It feels like the old system+regen steering combined, it has zero downsides. You can still drift and such but it barely loses any speed and just keeps going.
The T-72 and T-64 definitely feels worse than double differential tanks and them having horrible turn radius in 3rd and 4th gear will take some time to get used to but any other gear feels fine. However they seem to be able to turn sharply at high gears too.
First impressions for the Planetary Steering tanks
Not much to say honestly, a straight up upgrade compared to the current handling. I don’t think anyone will have problems with this one so no wonder Gaijin decided to implement this one in the current update if everything goes well.
If you steer more gently (hold A/D for a short time or tap) you get “regen steering” if you hold A/D longer you get the current steering.
And no, you can’t have this one on modern MBTs
Absolutely love all the changes.
Planetary steering is huge.
All MBTs are OP in mobility.
The tank itself lacks armor & ammo performance otherwise compared to other 13.3 - 12.7 options.
I was talking about it’s new handling only compared to NATO MBTs. It can turn very sharply at any speed
To me it feels almost finished, and amasing
Regenerative steering feels SO good on the Challenger Mk.2 and Chieftain Mk.3 (ESPECIALLY THIS ONE!!!)
and the double transmission and epicyclic of the russians feels an improvement
I hope even if Regen steering is shot down, everything gets the epicyclic steering, it results in much less speed loss, but keeps very sharp turns
Having tried it on the Cheiftain Mk 3, and then went back to try the regular steering on the Cheiftain Mk 5, it is nice not loosing all you speed by just trying to turn the tank any amount. Now you don’t come to a full stop when turning the tank 180.
I was also about criticise the mechanic about you only being able to gear down while turning, where it currently maxes the speed of you current gear, but you not having an ability to gear up while turning.
So if you began turning in the Cheiftain you were stuck to 18km/h in 4th gear instead of you being able to gear up to turn in 5th gear at 25km/h. However i found out you are able to gear up while turning if you hold forward and let got of your turning key shortly before pressing it again, in that short time it goes up in gear, and you are able turn again with a higher possible turn speed.
The AMX-30 feels a bit iffy, toying around with it on Poland was a mild struggle. Hard to keep speed up because the turning radius is larger than intersections, gotta stop and neutral steer occasionally. Too be fair though, I don’t think I should be brawling in Poland with the AMX-30 to begin with lol
Second iteration feels miles better than the first one… keep tweaking 👍
