They did not mention those vehicles
captain obvious on duty! Last time i checked i had the ability to read…
Thank you Mr. Sarcasm then, because if they didn’t mention it means it’s not for testing right? Or do you lack the critical thinking to pair two for two? We can request for it but as it stands it’s a no, simple.
And if you had read back, I’ve also already requested the devs to look into implementing it on dev server for testing too.
The Abrams seemed to handle pretty nicely though but I can’t wait for the dev server to see for myself. The Leo 2 being “bad” is nowhere near enough reason to throw away the whole thing
According to my Russian translator, if a particular vehicle handles poorly with the new steering system, that particular vehicle variants will not receive them, which honestly imo is stupid.
Well that would be a really stupid decision. And who is going to decide what “poorly” means? If BVVD likes it or not? haha
Just add it to everything and if really needed then they can still balance things with BRs and reload times/ammo choice. But I really doubt that the Leo 2 regen steering is so bad that any of that would be needed.
I’ll be doing a full test of it in the snail mine server, probably stream it too.
Hopefully we can see CVTs modeled soon on the Type 10s.
I don’t have my phone number added to my Discord acc so I can’t watch that sadly. I hope we’ll get the Dev server today though, it’s not open yet right? Edit: It just opened 15 minutes ago
From the Dev server changelog

M1 Abrams, Leopard 2A4, Leopard 2A8, Chieftain Mk.3, AMX-30 (1972), Challenger Mk.2, Type 90 (B), Type 10 — steering mechanism utilizing double differentials has been added. To ensure the accurate turning radii, the time required for a neutral-gear pivot turn has also been refined.

T-80BVM, T-72 (1989), T-64B — dual transmission steering mechanism (using separate side gearboxes) has been added.

But it’s easy for the normal player and as I already stated it’s a game and not a sim sim game like dcs (just read my first post). You should be able to turn it off or on BEFORE a match and then not be able to turn it on and off (toggle) in a match. So u be forced to play the match like this. This way you don’t force people to use a “future” they don’t want to, but also give the people who want it the option. This way everybody can be happy. Not so hard to understand.
The new mechanic on the Leo makes it worse then before. Just give the people the option to turn it off or on in the hangar so that you are bind to it in a match (so no toggle). People can therefore decide if they wanna use this or not instead of forcing people to use this. The old but simple driving mechanic is way better for new and casual players who don’t wanna play a ultra realistic sim like game (like DCS), but a semi realistic game like it is now. So what is wrong with giving the people the option?
First impressions for the Double Differential tanks
It’s a huge improvement compared to the previous test, every tank is a lot more controllable and handles a lot more fluid. Especially the Type 10, it’s very agile. The steering+braking making the tank go down a gear is a huge help. Braking also feels a lot smoother than in the previous test.
However the the throttle is still fully on while holding A or D only. Also using Brake+Turn to go down a gear doesn’t work for 2->1 for some reason, it instantly goes to Neutral from 2nd gear.
Yep agree on all aspect. They also changed the neutral steering on the Leopard 2s again.
My first impressions on the Amx-30 is that it feels like a huge buff but also a decent nerf. Low speed manoeuvrability is just bad now, but being able to turn going up hills, and not slowing down while doing medium turns is very nice.
Some way to turn tightly at low speed would be welcome, and
This is an issue.
First impressions for the Dual Transmission tanks
The T-80BVM is pretty much OP, this thing is even more insane than the Type 10 currently which will surely go down well with the community lol It feels like the old system+regen steering combined, it has zero downsides. You can still drift and such but it barely loses any speed and just keeps going.
The T-72 and T-64 definitely feels worse than double differential tanks and them having horrible turn radius in 3rd and 4th gear will take some time to get used to but any other gear feels fine.
First impressions for the Planetary Steering tanks
Not much to say honestly, a straight up upgrade compared to the current handling. I don’t think anyone will have problems with this one so no wonder Gaijin decided to implement this one in the current update if everything goes well.
If you steer more gently (hold A/D for a short time or tap) you get “regen steering” if you hold A/D longer you get the current steering.
And no, you can’t have this one on modern MBTs
Bug: dual transmission tanks (T-80BVM, T-72B 1989 and T-64B) when holding only A or D, the tank wants to shift to gear 2 before shifting down to gear 1, making turning on the spot nearly impossible.

This is simply disgusting
