New Mechanic: Ammo Boxes

you know them: oerlikon spaas, top attack atgm carriers, aft09/mephisto, falcon, etc.

This is overall such a great change. SPAA buffs are always welcome, and it will make TDs with a low ammo count much more viable.

As for the realism aspect, it is more realistic than re-arming on a captured point.

Ah yes, the falcon, the long ranged camper

i’ve done multiple 1.2km+ kills with it, so yes it’s a great lond range camper and a freaking canc…

Gajin community voted. Yet only 50% said yes. If you think these ammo boxes are a great addition, you’re wrong. Matchmaking is already terrible—most players just camp instead of playing the objective. If the developers add more mechanics that encourage camping, the game will turn into a camping simulator rather than one that requires teamwork to win and earn rewards. And its called a REALISTIC game. 1metre box can refill OZU rocket which is 2.5 meters long. Gajin said In

Agreeable stance.

Good.

This is a net positive to the game and people still find ways to complain 🤦‍♂️

Any reasoning for your opinion, or are you yourself just here to complain illogically about my views?

Most SPAA are defenceless, especially at higher tiers and their only way to rearm is to move to a cap point, a location where the enemy team is actively pushing (assuming it’s not a 1 cap point map)

The sheer lack of ammo is a crippling issue for many SPAA, such as the ADATS with 8 missiles or the OSA being added that only had 6.

Being able to rearm, even just once, means SPAA can be operational for twice as long. Too many times I’ve had to just J-out of an SPAA because I’ve run out of ammo.

Many ATGM slingers are the same. Like the striker, it’s useless in CQB and shouldn’t be forced to get in close just to rearm.

Usually, the amount of missiles is enough for the typical match. The limited ammunition capacity of SPAA and some TDs is not an error nor a problem. It is an exercise in ammunition conservation skills. In real life, SPAA would not always be 10 seconds away from replenishment stations, especially given the doctrine most work under. And tank destroyers even less so.

You shouldn’t just support ammunition crates blindly just because you get 2x the ammunition while using them. This is like supporting the government giving free money to all citizens, because, free money. This type of thinking is exclusively surface-level and shortsighted.

There are multiple ways to implement ammunition replenishment that would be more realistic and beneficial to the game. Such as slightly safer ammunition replenishment zones that still offer some risk. “CAS too strong” is just an excuse for this massive buff of two entire vehicle classes.

In the end, all this really leads to is a lower skill floor, and encouragement of individualistic, static play (camping) for all players. Why do War Thunder players say that teammates are just enemies in blue? Because the game is built in a way that discourages team play. And this new change only makes it worse.

They have actively worked against teamwork by shrinking map sizes and completely eliminating flanking in some maps, because too many casual players moan about said campers in RB. This is a breath of fresh air for players who actually wanna stay in the fight and not just J out when they run out of ammo, and you know, actually contribute to team work.

I thought it was mentioned that there can only be one box on the map? Guess per team.

How will a mechanic adding a near-instant portable ammunition replenishment point encourage teamwork, where previously it was only capture points that replenished ammunition? It is campers that will benefit from these changes. It requires intense mental gymnastics to make any argument on the contrary.

I am supportive of greater map sizes and more flanking routes, but to claim ammunition boxes encourage teamwork is stupid. Further evidence is the fact that the ammunition boxes exclusively provide a personal supply of ammunition.

Yes, because all wars are fought over white circles drawn on the ground between tanks with no infantry support. Planes, of course, magically appear out of thin air and armaments magically appear out of thin air after 30 seconds on the airfield in real life. And who could forget the war fought in the North Pole between USA, Sweden, Germany, France, and Israel against Russia, Britain, Italy, China, and Japan?

I mean, we have managed so far. But the Pantsir absolutely doesn’t need another buff. And this is a buff.

The Pantsir isn’t the only vehicle getting this, and any SPAA buff is good.

It’s just…incredibly dumb, it’s not something coming to every vehicle. Or that we couldn’t get spawn points to have such a capability. Coming to only three vehicle types? Why not just roll it out for everyone, as players asked for in the first place.

SPAA, TD and ATGM carriers don’t have the same standoff capability as an MBT. I agree that we need more team work, IFVs and light tanks should have the ability to replenish crew and ammo as well.

With crew and ammo being physical elements inside them.

Well I was hoping it would be bunch of ammo pallets covered by camo net…

Instead we have cute little wooden box :D

Lol same, the ammo box for SPAA is so small, it should be a large box like the one in the top pic. Just don’t give it collision to avoid grifting.
