New Mechanic: Ammo Boxes

War Thunder is abandoning realism by the day. Not like everything was realistic in the first place (which most people never claimed), but at least some things were, and now they are not.

This mechanic would have been great for only vehicles with rocket weaponry. Instead, we get a massive 2x ammunition boost to ALL SPAA and TDs. Without any of the downsides such as increased risk of ammunition detonation. Which comes in less than 10 seconds out of a tiny magic box. The margin by which the vote to add this was very slim. There were much better ideas proposed by players such as additional replenishment zones, but of course such suggestions were not listened to. Day by day, War Thunder gets easier and more bland to play, to pander to the new players spending $$$ on premiums.

Well, now that effectively 2x the ammunition is magically given to 2 entire vehicle classes with no downsides… Will Gaijin change the BR of SPAA and TDs accordingly?

Of course they won’t. We all know by precedent. No change whatsoever when all SACLOS missiles such as SAMs and ATGMs underwent a massive nerf. Most vehicles stay at the same relative BR even today.

If the next thing you post doesn’t say planed technical works, get you gloves we are going to fight.

C*S absolutely dominates whenever it’s present, specially in Top Tier, SPAAs are hardly and barely a counter in many ocassions…

So I don’t think making SPAAs just a bit more capable of countering team-ending vehicles warrants changing their BRs or perceiving it as a negative thing.

Can you use ammo boxes as land mines?

Meaning, if I leave the ammo box somewhere and enemy open top vehicle drives over it and destroys it, will the explosion damage/destroy him?

cas be annoying AF when they shoot you before they are even able to be seen or heard

no probably not since the literal land mines on Normandy have no effect even if an m56 drives over them

I must have missed the part where games like squad and other realistic games don’t have ammo crates, oh right they do or like how SPAA and howitzers sit literally next their ammo in real life to replenish them

Yes, you can but the damage is very low and practically impossible to use

Gaijin once again taking their classic monkey paw approach to a player request.

Players: We want a way to rearm ourselves beyond just capture points. Maybe have spawn points look at FOBs and let us rearm there.

Gaijin: Sure thing players. Here you go. Only three vehicle types can rearm themselves and only themselves. Exactly what you wanted.

yay, now OP vehicles will be able to fully replenish WHILE still camping. It’s a great mechanic for a lot of low ammo count vehicles, but a lot of those atgms tds and spaas are balanced by their limited ammo supply. Now they just need to find a safe spot that isn’t potentially contested (unlike capture points) and wait a bit to be back to being nuisance for everyone.

That’s a cosmetic thing that can be refined in the future. But getting the core mechanic working and bug free should be step 1.

Could be cool in future if instead of it teleporting in, it dropped in via parachute.

Which OP vehicles?

The Pantsir is about to become stupidly (more) broken.

Probably, but how I see it. If we nerf the Pantsir today, everyone else gets shot in the foot tomorrow. How do you decide which SPAA get the extra ammo and which don’t?

I’d hate to get a new top tier spaa sooner rather than later and get gimped by a lack of reload

you know them: oerlikon spaas, top attack atgm carriers, aft09/mephisto, falcon, etc.

This is overall such a great change. SPAA buffs are always welcome, and it will make TDs with a low ammo count much more viable.

As for the realism aspect, it is more realistic than re-arming on a captured point.

Ah yes, the falcon, the long ranged camper

i’ve done multiple 1.2km+ kills with it, so yes it’s a great lond range camper and a freaking canc…

Gajin community voted. Yet only 50% said yes. If you think these ammo boxes are a great addition, you’re wrong. Matchmaking is already terrible—most players just camp instead of playing the objective. If the developers add more mechanics that encourage camping, the game will turn into a camping simulator rather than one that requires teamwork to win and earn rewards. And its called a REALISTIC game. 1metre box can refill OZU rocket which is 2.5 meters long. Gajin said In
