Hello!
Ok, so we currently have 3-ish hangar maps for vehicle display in Warthunder:
1. Motor Pool/Firing Range for Ground Vehicles:
2. Airfield For Aircraft:
3. Naval port for Ships and Patrol Vessels:
4. Open waters (Nearby Port) for Hydroplanes & Flying Boats
Which is great and all, but i’d say that its rather limiting, as the maps may not highlight the interesting characteristics of vehicles that would help bolster the realism, and the historical aspect of the vehicles we play, and just the overall look of tacticool in game!
This is why I suggest the addition of a new Hangar Map, the Aircraft Carrier Deck!
We already have multiple aircraft carrier models in game, and I believe that it would be a fantastic addition! Using the carrier deck would make a much more appropriate location for many of the Naval aircraft we see in game, also allowing us to see many features that wouldn’t be seen on the regular airfield!
Things like…
1. Folding Wings:
2. Carrier Elevators in Use:
3. Carrier Catapults:
4. Arresting Wires:
5. ESCO Net Barrier:
6. And Just the Bustle of a Floating Airport!
Overall The Concept is rather simple, and can be easier visualized with this diagram:
Diagram of Nimitz-Class Aircraft Carrier:
Ok, using the breakdown of the layout given, here’s an example of a possible layout of an Aircraft Carrier in WarThunder!
-
Selected Aircraft appears in “The Street” or the “Sixpack”
-
Naval Aircraft within Player’s Line-Up appears in The “Coral” & “Point”
- (If none are in the Line up, Era-Appropriate vehicles take their place)
-
Premium Aircraft are placed on Elevators 1 & 2
-
Additional “Filler” Aircraft fill the Landing Deck, Catapults 1 & 2, and additional spaces
-
Flying Boats appear to the side of the Carrier.
-
Event/wishlisted naval aircraft could appear on Elevators 3, 4, and the “Junkyard”
-
Other stuff…
I believe that this would be a relatively easy and helpful addition to the game, as we already have multiple complete models of Aircraft carriers from WW2 to the modern era, already in use in multiple battles/missions, so IN THEORY, it should be TOO difficult map-wise, and would gives the opportunity to see these aircraft and their features in their appropriate environment.
What do you think?
