Yeah, it also said “continue boring muzzle brake down until accuracy has met ‘said standard’ for accuracy of 3UBR8”. That is if the first time doesn’t do the job (newer 2A42 or less used guns have less residual wear to the brake)
I understand you made a mistake, but Jesus the persistence was about to kill.
Yeah sorry i misread it, though that changes little as the bmp2m is older than the patent itself which isnt an issue as production is low so they might have simply started doing this, but that would mean the base model bmp2 wasnt caoable of firing 2ubr8 effectively for decades, which could explain why sometimes the video accuracy was terrible and sometimes it was fine,
Wouldnt increasing the bore by 1mm mean making a larger bore? I would assume that residual wear wouldnt be thw problem here as much as the muzzble break design itself
And it doesnt change that there is no proof 3ubr11 was ever fielded with it(or with anything really). Which imo i dont think is relevant to the game as i have no issue with it receiving the shell
The ‘bore’ here is the muzzle brake, which screws into the front of the gun and has horizontal ports on it. They aren’t increasing the Barrel diameter of 30mm, they are increasing the Muzzle Brake’s diameter to 31mm+ to stop the sabots from influencing poor accuracy on the gun.
The design or placement of the muzzle brake isn’t the issue inherently, it’s the sabots petaling off too quickly.
Also;
This is also tracking to the SBP forum post stating it may not be all widespread throughout every vehicle, and only based on the crew and their management of the vehicles weapons.
So, ‘residual wear’ just means the diameter of the muzzle brake has already been slowly worn down over the firing of roughly hundreds of thousands of rounds. Not to mention that ‘heat’ issue would probably have the ability to soften the metal and allow it to be worn easier by firing rounds.
I’m as confused right now as you are, what exactly do you mean ‘wouldn’t fare well for accuracy’? Adjusting the muzzle brake diameter changes, effective no property of accuracy, except in this case a positive way.
It would change accuracy ever so slightly with further and further wear, its not a direct link but its by virtue of incosistent gas dispersion, that would be of course 90% fixable through resighting,
I think there is a valid point to be made, which is that the patent is very new, russian modernizations is slow and on top of that there is very small production of bmp2m (and no new hulls) anymore as theyre focused on bmp3, that would mean that at the vast majority of bmp2s would be ineffective with subcaliber penetrators(which wouldnt affect irl as it was always known how apt was still the most common ap round for 30mm cannons)
Which i would find reasonable to have the 8.7 bmp8 deceive a nerf in accuracy. As the patent cane out long since production stopped(2006). That would leave the bmp2 m and md unaffected
It would require tools and a resighting but it could be done. Still i find that besides the point as the vehicle was still long out of production and a 2005 production model would have that issue would you think it reasonable to have the 8.7 be nerfed?
