They are only strong because of how broken APIT is. If they did not have that it would be a non issue. They need to be strong against planes because otherwise you would have people at 8.3 fighting CAS with .50cal trucks and single 20mm open tops. Those are breakfast for even late 40s jets.
What makes you think that? The same system is implemented for planes and it works as I described it not as you did. Anti Air or similar belts don’t affect the base SP cost however Ground belts (whatever the penetration is again for ground, I forgot) RAISE the base cost. What makes you think this would work in any way different?
Or do you mean that SPAA with tank killing belts should cost less? The way you worded the last reply makes no sense
Most nations have comparable indigenious designs that can be added. Most nations already have an M163, Shilka, or something comparable like WZ305 or Veak 40.
That is the issue though. Before they are added (we know gaijin will take decades) this is the best solution. I’d rather have OP SPAA for a couple RB brackets than OP CAS for more brackets.
I see. I still don’t think that would be the case but you are allowed your own opinion. Even if they increased cost and treated 150 as base SP the fact that SPAA used to always be 70 would not make the grind any different at all. And also many SPAA with calibers under 20mm would not even qualify for this BASE COST at all. SO just going by that it would make more sense to use 70 as the base and 150 as increased.
I’ll probably be off to actually make this a suggestion thread
I am aware. The same argument of balance persists. It’s way easier to kill a gepard in my tank than it is to kill a plane. And in fact I often do kill gepards in my tanks. Planes… not so much
I’m actually using Air Arcade to slowly spade all of air. And, not really? The guns are kinda terrible, the fuel limited, and most planes are way more maneuverable than in realistic.
almost all (only 2 are not) 8.3 aircraft are 1950s or later tech, but anyway.
You want 50s technology? You can have it…
I introduce to you the anti-air tech from the 50s:
USA:
MIM-3 Nike Ajax
MIM-14 Nike Hercules
MIM-23 HAWK (although this more on the edge of the 60s, but it was designed in the 50s)
USSR:
S-25 Berkut
S-75 Dwina
UK:
Boodhound missile
As you might have realized, those are SAM-systems. With considerable range.
And all nations in the game would have access to those. (idk bout Israel though; I guess they could get some via Greece…)
We could add those of course.
The multi-vehicle system of the game allows for that.
