Nerf MiG-23ML/MLD

MiG-23ML/MLD should be 12.0 fr
the radar is absolutely unfair at its current BR, also R-24Rs are insanely good (don’t make me talk about R-60Ms being almost the only all-aspect IR missiles) and the engine/maneuverability its amazing for a simple fighter jet.
playing with other planes is IMPOSSIBLE do to it’s incredible performance.
it should get nerfed or at least get a higher BR where another planes can make something against it

There is a tiny argument to be made that the Mig-23MLs RWR is not good enough to handle any form of uptiers at 12.0 (although there are much weaker RWRs at 12.0 such as on the F-104) but the Mig-23MLD 100% should be at 12.0

RWR isn’t too important, Su-27 has a very bad RWR for its BR and it stills makes the job done

but what we need is BR decompression

Dont forget the other shortcomings of the R60M, mainly the non existant range, damage or chance to hit anyone that isnt tabbed out. The radar is horrific and relies on the R24 maintaining its target rather than maintaining lock. Flight performance is good tho

Whilst the R-60M does have limited range, everything instantly goes for flares at that BR, unless you are really really bad at defending or your target is one of the few exceptionally hot aircraft like the Harrier.

Though the Mig-23ML/MLD can defend against IR threats much easier than most

lol what
mig23 radar is unusable now, it locks literally everything, bombs, ffars,…
and locking anyone above horizon = miss because it will lock chaff
the only way for r24r is to be above someone and have radar switch into MTI
r24r is really bad because of that, using r24t stealthy is the only way to play it

The Su27s RWR is subpar compared to the others but its only lacking threat detection and doesnt give quite as accurate angles. It is still reliable enough to notch consistantly and doesnt lack more important features like launch warnings. The Mig23s radar on the other hand basically just says: “hey there is someone, i dont know what or where, i think he shot at you so uhhh good luck”

pretty much the whole first sentence has to be ragebait(apart from the r24r being good and maybe the overall performance)…

At range yes, but below 1km you might not be able to flare an Aim9G or something like that but you will be able to flare an R60, even if it is close enough that it cant pull away in time.

r24r does its job, but the radar stuff can be tricky… if you dont get locks with radar switch to ir mode, get a lock and switch back to radar…

and your target drops a single chaff/bomb/rocket and it loses lock
and it alerts them with rwr

r24t superiority>>>

Eh… I think at those kinds of ranges, the R-60M is just as effective at ignoring flares. If not more effective because they can pull well. I’d be tenative to fire a 9G/9L at sub -1km because it may not even be able to maneuver onto the target in time (very much dependent on what the target is doing) but I’ve had 9Ls defeated at those ranges all the time.

We need an IR overhaul ASAP because the target has too great of an impact on how effective flares are. You can defend badly in the F-5 and survive with ease and you can defend perfectly in other aircraft but still die.

(In a Harrier, you cannot flare a R-60M fired at 3km if the Harrier is at low air speed. The game is a total mess)

The R24 will actually keep its target, as long as the radar has a track in the general area due to how sahrs work

nuh uh, it will go for the new lock in non mti mode
there is a trick to disable the radar so the r24 goes with iog then and try to relock if there is distance but that is just unreliable

Tbh the range alone makes the Aim9g the better missile in my opinion, as its much less likely to be spotted when shot out of spotting range. For unaware targets the R60M does kind of fine minus the range and damage part so i guess you could call it a sidegrade

The tactic I’ve seen, heard about and experienced (used against me) is firing an R-60M in a headon at very short range (like 500-600m). Unless you are actively pre-flaring, that is a guranteed kill. (and even then, pre-flaring isnt 100% reliable)

I tried that and it only works with huge planes like f111
smaller ones still fool it because r60 sees the flares behind the plane easily
you just have to move a tiny tiny bit
but yeah people dont expect r60 that close, they wanna go guns

I like to use that strat as well but 600m is already well within gun range, and any of the experienced players (if you happen to find one) will just not take it

in general if you cant flare a r60 you cant flare any missile
