Been trying to use the M60A1 RISE (P) and have been getting repeatedly killed. Any tips on how to use the vehicle?
Well tl;dr is get dart soon as possible.
Longer answer is more nuanced. M60A1/3 Pattons are not without weaknesses, but overall they are great platforms for the BR theyre at with great kit. ESS, smoke grenades, several types of ammo aviable, ERA bricks for those rare downtiers.
As I said previously, your priority should be getting the sabot, as it massively improves your firepower (assuming you already dont have it). While it might look weak due to low flat pen, its angled pen is 3rd best for 8.7 medium tank, only surpased by the DM23 and its clones and the french OFL 105 G1.
As for playstyle treat it as any other medium/MBT; that is adapt your playstyle depensing on BR of the game you find yourself into.
In uptiers, you either have to hang in the rear and support other tanks. Issues of your armor are even more prominent in uptier, but this issue is not unique to the RISE (P). Its best to play in a way that minimizes risk of getting shot at, and if thats not possible, minimizes risk of getting hit.
Your sabot is good enough to punch through weakspots of almost any 9.7 tank you can face in full uptier, with only Obj 279 being annoying and dangerous (albeit this issue again isnt unique to the RISE (P)).
While your mobility isnt good enough to flank around entiriety of the map, RISE (P) is still fast enough to reach favorable positions and flank in some capacity, depending on the map. You wont be flanking anytime soon on Fulda but you can flank on Advance to Rhine.
If you find yourself in downtier, you can be more aggresive, provided you dont overextend. RISE (P) base armor, while not without weaknesses, enjoys some nice angles that full bore AP rounds struggle with, and can even bounce occasional russian sabot. Still best not to rely on it. Against chemical however its different story. Remember that around 8.7 , and in downtier, lot of tanks rely on chemical munitions be it HEAT-FS shells, rockets or earlier ATGMs. I say this sincerely, the ERA bricks saved me more times than id expect. DF-105s, Raketenautomats, you name it.
To conclude its great platform but not without weaknesses, but if you can adapt your playstyle to it, it will be rewarding, trust me.
Would you consider it similar in the position of a T-72B? Terrible tank but with good gun and banished into sniping.
