Hey everyone, I just unlocked the BMP-1 in War Thunder, and I’m having an issue with the ATGMs. I know WASD is used to control the missile, but after firing one, I can’t move my vehicle at all. I have to fire all four missiles before I can drive again.
I think there’s a key I need to press to regain control, but I don’t know what it is. Can someone help? Thanks!
No, you have to fire one if you want to move, you don’t need to use all your missiles to move again.
The manual guidance missiles restrict the vehicle from moving while the missile is launched and still active.
Until you hit the desired target, loss line of sight or simply shove it on the ground to quickly loss it’s control you can’t move at all.
Which is a very strange implementation of the whole mechanic. IRL there is nothing that restricts the tanks movement when a missile is fired, it’s just that one is likely to miss if trying to guide a MCLOS ATGM while the platform you’re on is moving.
In WT however MCLOS guidance is directly coupled to tank movement, and can not be assigned differently, which is very suboptimal: it’s ok if you a) control your tank with the keyboard and b) use automatic gear, but if you want to use joystick/throttle axis to control the tank, it’s practically impossible to use MCLOS missiles.
They could easily simply make it impossible to fire MCLOS missiles when moving, and that would solve the whole thing. Work’s with SACLOS missiles, no?
Grind the bmp1p pack and yo get a saclos missile which you can aim with your mouse
I wish that any missile could be fired at movement expect Beam-riding missiles, I don’t see either why semi-automatic guidance also prevents the movement.
Which you can still move perfectly after firing any semi-automatic guided missile like the TOW and this variations while guiding it. I’ve tried on few vehicles like the Wiesel 1A2.
I’ve tried binding the yaw and pitch guidance to another keys and still forcing the vehicle from the movement. Which instead of moving, could restrict the use of the main weapon if the vehicle have one, or at least giving it battle cruise speed.
It is especially weird considering aircraft-launched MCLOS missiles have their own keybinds
For the missile’s firing restrictions, It is not necessary the type of guidance who block the missile firing on movement on few vehicles but the launcher system.
For exemple, the missile’s rack on the Bradley must be errected before the launch and the structure is not enought solid for stay deployed at more 10km/h speed.
Other systems can’t manage a movement during the missile guidance…
And on others, the missile system must stay stable during the guidance because it is not stabilized…
