Naval mode is finally dead

With all due respect this has nothing to with this topic or the other 2 youve sent it in, yes there are weakpoints but every ship in the entire game has them

The naval mode has been steadily deteriorating, and with every update, it seems like the developers are finding new ways to strip away what little strategy remains.

What was once a mode that demanded precision and careful planning has turned into a frustrating mess where you no longer feel in control of your own shots.

In the past, positioning was crucial, and landing a hit required thoughtful calculation, you had to factor in distance, velocity, and shell trajectory to properly damage an enemy ship.

That challenge was what made naval battles engaging. But now?

The aiming sights make no sense, and tracking where your turret is pointed has become an ordeal. You line up the shot, expecting it to land where aimed, but instead, your rounds veer off unpredictably.

Instead of rewarding skill and tactics, the game now feels like a mindless click-and-hope system. If you can’t accurately judge where your shells will land, then what is left to engage with?

It’s hardly even a battle at this point, just an exercise in randomness.

Your sarcasm regarding automatic firing is eerily accurate at this point. While I understand its presence in Arcade battles, most players prioritise realism. I personally spend most of my time in Realistic mode, but if this trend persists, what comes next?

An “idle mode” where ships auto-fire while players just sit back and watch? The game is dangerously close to eliminating any sense of involvement.

Naval mode needs a serious overhaul before it becomes completely unrecognizable. Strategy should be at the core of the experience, but with every patch, it feels like it’s slipping further and further away.

Since I’m wasting my time checking stats, I decided to check Air Arcade and Ground Arcade as well to get the full picture.

Like I said a few times before, March was the month with a major update. So you should expect an increased number of players in this month anyway, it simply makes sense. We also had Naval event and Naval Arcade aiming change in mentioned update.

Total number of Naval Arcade players in February: 707922
Total number of Naval Arcade players in March: 765447
Total number of Naval Arcade players in April: 581452

Total number of Naval Realistic players in February: 323276
Total number of Naval Realistic players in March: 384651
Total number of Naval Realistic players in April: 291457

Total number of Air Arcade players in February: 5101116
Total number of Air Arcade players in March: 5642192
Total number of Air Arcade players in April: 5389363

Total number of Ground Arcade players in February: 6378269
Total number of Ground Arcade players in March: 7585078
Total number of Ground Arcade players in April: 6850371

I think the most interesting comparison is when you ignore the March (major update month) and compare February (last full month before the major update) to April (first full month after the major update). This gives you interesting results:

Naval Arcade lost 18% of players.
Naval Realistic lost 10% of players.
Air Arcade gained 5.5% of players.
Ground Arcade gained 7% of players.

It will be interesting to see if this situation continues in May. In June we should see some iconic battleships added to the game, so maybe that will improve the situation a bit, we will see. But currently, it doesn’t look good for Naval and especially for Naval Arcade.

Don’t forget that there will be no naval events till the august and this is sad

Unsurprisingly. I’m fairly certain this has a lot to do with the seasonal event vehicles recently, which significantly affected player counts. I’m particularly interested in seeing how the stats look during an event focused on naval vehicles.

That said, I think the repeated spamming of ships like the Aconit/HMCS Brantford, Arras/Amiens, and Marne is doing serious damage to all naval modes in coastal battles. These ships have highly detailed damage models, making them frustratingly difficult to sink in a reasonable amount of time. This results in one-sided matches and pushes average players away, further hurting naval mode’s already low retention rate.

On top of that, AI bots continue to be a nuisance to face in naval battles. Their artificially enhanced muzzle velocity makes them far too effective at scoring hits and finishing off players from long distances, whether in the air or on the sea, which fuels even more frustration to play in it.

If numbers continue to decline, maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll listen. You’re the one that tried to pull out numbers when it suited you, and then dismissed them when they didn’t.

I suspect numbers is what Gaijin will care about. Hopefully they have someone with actually access to the real data looking at them.

And we can help them by… not playing naval anymore.

Literally the longest I’ve gone not really playing War Thunder. First Battlepass I’ve skipped. Sale I’ve ignored. And the beginning of a series of boats on the market I ignore.

No point spending money on boats when they’re not fun to play anymore.

You imagining things. I just showed that despite your woes in March there was increase, and then decrease in April in both naval modes. So your little boycott did nothing for overall naval playerbase or it trends.

Next patch will be naval one, so it gonna be increase again despite you like it or not. NAB don’t roll around your donates.

Lol. My Guy…

You pick and choose what you want.

So you ignoring 8% NAB increase and 18% NRB in March and same both 25% drop in April, how convenient, and you can ask for or calculate yourself games played in this month StatShark - See All Player, Missile, and Vehicle Statistics

:D

My guy… did you ignore this post?

We’re talking trends mate. And I think you cherry pick what you want, and ignore the rest.

Lol. Yeah. We’re going to continue to talk about the issues with coastal until they’re fixed. Feel free to exit the conversation. Talking about the woes of costal is LITERALLY What this Forum Post is about.

sure you are, ignoring 2 month is what i am doing not you

Ain’t saw you report any bugs. Only words how they butchered your favorite 2.3-3.0 “gameplay” on your favorite premium.

I’m not here about “bugs”. I’m here about a catastrophic failure of an update that butchered Naval Aiming, and has led to an exodus of the game mode.

Like everyone else here is.

And we all here watching you be the one-man-band defending it, and denying the rest of us.

Exodus of you?

Wow 10% down in NRB probably also cause of your moans

And the concerns and complaints of the vast majority responding here, and in the 3 or 4 OTHER posts complaining about the horrific changes to naval arcade aiming.

See… THIS… what you’re doing here… this is called gaslighting. lol
