Naval mode is finally dead

We use to be able to use realistic aiming mode in Arcade. They took that away too, even though the option is still there in the settings.

I played since you couldn’t extinguish fires without a mod and just don’t see the difference your talking about, your just putting a pointer over part of a ship instead of a green circle. Nothing actually changed in any practical sense, its only how the lead calculation is shown that is different, we still have to consider changes in direction and speed - but without a green circle it’s actually More difficult now because we don’t have a reliable sight.

The sights are also a bit pretentious now, something circular would be good so that I can have a more reliable way to judge offsets based on what the target is doing.

ammo explosions are still ridiculous and need to be toned down, there are many unplayable ships and situations.

how do we know there isn’t some kind of ‘Reverse Bug’ problem in the damage calculations? it seems completely random at times, although getting racked by 4" HE in a battleship that time shows there are obviously exploits too.

I like the idea of skill based crits, but don’t let them sink ships, have a repair time penalty or something, along with the fact you loose ammo.

Something that’s certain is that no ship is going to be able to repair its guns dozens of times in 30 minutes of intense damage - so why have such an annoying thing like excessive ammo explosions supposed to be ‘realistic’

Gaijin still for some weird reason won’t let us play 3.0 and lower boats in Naval EC!!!

There’s literally no good reason why we shouldn’t be able to play them! Change this Gaijin!!!

what do you want to do with them? your z46 has more than twice the mines of the vs-8 and using a SF on EC is pure insanity :)

v990 is the only one I can think that has practical usage but is below the limit

I like the small size and speed of the VS-8 and the SF 40 is a very fun anti air vehicle. If I can bring a bi plane with nothing but machine guns then I should fully be allowed to bring these fun smaller boats with mines, torpedos, and a small size with lots of speed. The 3.3 limit is stupid and does nothing to benefit the game mode.

have you played the mode much? I think you’d quickly find that both those propositions are not useful and you’d be sabotaging your team by spawning those vehicles, I took a 3.3 rank 1 lineup into EC and all I could do is spawn at convoys and get destroyed by larger ships

The limit probably only goes down that far to let everyone have a speedboat with good torps and a mine layer, not many maps have places that are useful to protect with mines and half the matches your team will dominate and no enemy will ever get near them, and if you spawn at a recently capped point your always a very fragile target, small ships are too agile to get caught in mines, and the big ones will just one shot you, even the VS-8 will just get whacked by secondaries or AA before it does anything

I don’t care if it’s effective or not. I want to have fun, I should have the option to bring my VS-8 and SF 40 to naval EC. Players can already bring things like L3s to top tier in ground or bi planes in Air. In normal naval matches I can already bring the VS-8 and SF-40 to higher BRs. don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to bring it to Naval EC which are bigger longer battles so even if I do nothing my impact would be much smaller. If I can bring a Bi plane with nothing but machine guns, than I should be able to play the VS-8 with mines, the S-38 with Torpedos, or the SF 40 Heavy with 4 8,8 cm flak cannons. I like to have the option to have variety in my WW2 German Naval lineups. I want to learn convoy routes, then rush to there before the convoy spawns, leaves my mines, and then run away in my quick, small, and nimble VS-8. I want to stay around the slow convoys on my team and shoot down any planes that try to attack us in the SF 40 Heavy. I want to get together with tons of friends and attack bigger boats in smaller fast torpedo boats. Is it always conventional? No! But it’s fun, and that’s why I do it! I simply want to have fun!
I love Fun and being a rat in the VS-8 is fun!!!

of course, why else play a game, and exploring strategies is lots of fun, just understand that your concept of fun is at the expense of others, and that vulgar image shows that you probably don’t understand that concept

Pretty sure that’s how it happens most of the time. Play an OP vehicle? You have fun but your enemy sure won’t. Wanna bring vehicles up to a higher br for shits and giggles? Sure you’ll have a blast, but your teammates won’t be very pleased. Most of the time, your fun is at the expense of others.

That “vulgar” image shows a man having a blast speeding in his VS-8, which is very fun.

The limits are stupid. We deserve the option to bring 3.0 and under vehicles to naval EC!

If it were my choice, I’d remove coastal from bluewater altogether so coastal can’t be used in bluewater matches and vice versa.

:clown:

I honestly would grind coastal if the vehicles weren’t so damn expensive compared to the lower BR Bluewater ships that tend to be better anyways.

NRB is fairly dead, with very few human players, plus MUCH slower battles thanks to the slower torpedo speed, slower ships, lack of torpedo reloading unless on a spawn, etc. I actually play GRB and ARB exclusively, but NAB was the one that I actually enjoyed.

To respond to your next post, you did not just put the pointing over a green circle. Dependent on where you wanted to hit, you had to actually change from that circle- the circle gave guidance, but as the enemy ship maneuvered, you had the ability to estimate their next moves and position for hitting. You also, regardless of even if they are going in a straight line, had to estimate over and under, leading closure/distancing rates between your ship and theirs, and the direction of travel of both ships. This was fun, engaging, and a skill you had to learn and master as you played, especially for different ship types and calibers. Combine that with the need to calculate point of impact based on their maneuvering, it was wonderful. In the new mode, you cannot actually adjust the point of impact- it is tied to where your camera was pointing on the enemy ship AT time of firing- if the enemy ship maneuvers, you miss. But you also can’t then adjust by leading the guns to fire based on your estimate and educated guesswork at how the player is going to maneuver- if you try that, your guns are now not aiming with a general camera tracking, you’re now aiming at a random spot in the ocean that the guns are now tracking and aiming to hit as a STATIONARY target, not the moving target of the enemy ship.

The problem for NRB is it doesn’t actually update the ranging in real time as it used to do in NAB, meaning you have to constantly break your lead to reacquire the enemy ship and snap the guns back to the right angle of fire. Extremely annoying, and when there is more than one enemy ship in camera, downright damaging to your ability to keep a constant lead calculation.

That’s basically what I do now- coastal NRB is at least TOLERABLE gameplay wise (though still with all the issues NRB has) and at least it prints SL like nothing else. Slow as hell grinds, but I almost have all of them purchased and spaded.

HUGE +1

This is my absolute biggest gripe with the new “aimbot” targeting system in Naval Arcade: it completely removes the agency (actual control) of our aim. I detest it to no end.

I hate it when sometimes playing arcade EC because it makes me have to wait for the person to stop maneuvering to get a proper shot.

Exactly. No other gamemode does this, not GAB, GRB, AAB, ARB, NRB, etc. Only NAB completely disengages the player from actually aligning their guns and estimating leads themselves.

Except that you can adjust aim when the target maneuvers, same as before - you need to estimate power of turn and drop of the speed from the maneuver and then make a correction by left or right and up from the target itself to compensate that turn, instead out of green “Ʌ” what was before. Of course it will not be as precise as shooting at target sailing strait. If you don’t figure it out in a year that’s on you.

If you don’t learn it you will be outplayed by those who practicing it.

but we do EXACTLY the same thing now, just pointing at the ship itself rather than the green circle

I honestly don’t have a clue what your mean, even in the green circle days you did the exact same offsetting to predict turns and changes in speed
