After two months, it looks like the naval changes didn’t change the naval patterns of play very much at all. Slight fade (about 5% of AB players net) going to RB or getting out, and AB players playing more 7.0 than before (stats from Statshark)

So we’re saying that the changes have caused less people to play Arcade Naval Battles. When the trend was a steady increase of players, gaijin managed to reverse course with this aim change.
Less People are now playing Arcade Naval because of the change, the stats show.

Relative to RB, yes. You’d need a year’s worth of data to account for annual player patterns for absolute data to be useful.
Before patch it was about 2:1 AB/RB in terms of players. Now AB’s gone down about 5% and RB has gone up about 10% compared to pre-patch. This could be a combination of net departures from AB, transfers from AB to RB, or net gains for RB, all of which could be attributable to the aiming changes making RB seen as less the inferior mode for naval aficionados now than it was. What you can’t argue from data is that the changes have attracted a whole bunch of new AB players yet, which was presumably the aim.

Its’s probable the only realistic aspect remaining, you are going flank speed in a multi tone beast and turn full radder, the cannons just can’t follow or the angle of the ship don’t allow them to shoot correctly.
Actually I think this is just as it was before the change, it wasn’t that noticeable as you would not shoot while making hard maneuvers.

Another way at looking at the same Statshark data. A modest decline over two months in naval popularity generally relative to other modes somewhat obscures the greater drop in AB popularity specifically since the last update:

Day of week has a big impact for it, but tbh, I think i’ve begun seeing more populated (NRB) matches recently, at least they feel a little more populated and that makes sense. I know a lot of players use to just give up from sitting in a queue for ages but now you will actually get into a match, even if a large percentage of the enemy team are bots, and whilst they are less interesting to fight than players they are also not quite as dumb as AI vehicle founds in other gamemodes.
