Naval mode is finally dead

I am aware that the SS is wildly stronger along with the other hard hitters of the US, Soviet, Japanese and German trees but my eyebrows were raised when the Warspite just seemed to not be as durable as it should be for what it was.

A lot of ships aren’t as durable as they should be. Conversely, a lot of ships are also stronger than they would be in real life.

Yamatos are made of glass while Soyuz is the defacto best ship period.

Reason: anomalously huge explosive filler and armor that straight up shrugs off 46cm AP consistently. Iowa can equally shrug off 46cms but Iowa also doesn’t hit as hard as Soyuz and has a few bow weakpoints at close range.

Out of the 8.7s, Yamato sisters are probably the weakest with Iowa and Soyuz being leagues better. Faster, ahistorically more maneuverable and just better armored in general, we’ve been trying to get the two buffed since leviathans dropped with Yamato.

Instead they nerf their magazine health like it wasn’t already piss easy to kill them to begin with. Yamatos need to pixel hunt the Soyuz, Iowa and - to a lesser extent - South Dakota. Conversely, most ships just need to aim in the general direction of the bow turrets or turret 3.

At least the 46s sound absolutely vicious when fired, I guess.

I’m (very slowly) working on the British tree, and yeah, this is what it feels like… are there any real advantages to British ships past this point? The battleships are survivable (so far) but otherwise have slower reloads, weaker shells, slower traverse, slower speeds, weaker AA… not a lot of advantages over their contemporaries

No unless you absolutely like the ships for their historical significance.

Rodney is painfully mid, Prince of Wales has the worst shells in the game at 7.7.

And got uptiered to 8.0 despite her abysmal shells.

These shells are barely excusable at 7.0, let alone 7.3.

I am still baffled as to why the PoW was raised to 8.0. It genuinely makes no sense.

You can barely scratch anything thats farther than 6km

Most ships can’t even penetrate a broadside Soyuz at 6km.

It takes several salvos to mag det it from a tosa at 5 and that’s if you’re shooting it in the back of the turrets while it casually ignores you

i see they haven’t fixed the bug where torpedoes don’t appear and the torpedo buzzer doesn’t sound off on occasion

I feels like the torpedo warning not working is the norm these days.

torpedoes are bugged in several ways,

  • torpedo aiming marker is not visible in gunner view
  • torpedo tubes start their reload cycle even if not fully depleted caussing them not to work until the reload is completed (still showing green marker…) All vessels are affected!

I’m back from my mute for saying that a bug report getting closed in 2 days is a new record in the dedicated complaint thread entitled “naval is dead.” What year is it? Are subs in the game? If they are, they run about as deep and slow as I expected, because I didn’t see a single one today!

From the few games I played today, it seems that a new bug started to crop up, though it’s just a minor UI glitch. When I first spawn in a ship, the turret indicators don’t appear until I’ve moved the firing point into their gun arc. So a ship with 4 turrets might only show 2 at the bottom of the HUD until I turn your camera.

Don’t forget that currently torpedoes are completely wakeless! Every few major updates torpedo wakes disappear and don’t show up again for months - perhaps even more major updates.

That’s an intentional feature now, though the part where you can’t launch probably is unintended.

yes the bug came up with this update. But all tubes are affected wether one-sided or not. They should start reloading only when empty not after a given time… And there are some ships where the reload one side didn’t work at all

Now there is something happening with the game not counting the daily task being done for me. I usually don’t do “Rock” task, but recently had it running and it got completed while I was in a battleship on one of these death circle maps. Was surprised, as a while back I tried it and it did not count, so assumed they are not counting the death circle as a strategic point for some stupid reason. Got it today, so tried it again… at least 4 of them were while I was in the death circle and I needed 2… well, it did not count.
Next match I went in a destroyer to do the 27 cables special task (kills in a destroyer from more than 5 km). Got a bunch of kills, including at least 6 from more than 5 km. Game is over and the special task still shows as ZERO KILLS. Well, I restarted the game for a good measure, but guess what… still showing 0 kills and the task is not done.

At the start of this BP I didn’t even bother playing for like 2 weeks. Only now catching up. Tired of the lame grind and the lame aim. Haven’t even posted on this forum since last year. What is the point? With thousands of posts in just this one thread, how many replies were there from gaijin staff?

Yeah, Leningrad is my bread and butter for this task and it’s Rank III. The game starts with more players and it’s a fast paced slugfest with many planes as well. Hate matches that start with 3-4 players and then the game piles up new ones as the match goes on, fully flipping the outcome.
Used US destroyers before, but the more I played them the more constant 0.7-1.0 uptiers to chunky cruisers and battleships. 4.3 is the fun zone atm, even if I have to meet 5.0-5.3 destroyers from time to time.

my main cash-cow is the yukikaze - its 4.3 now but mostly ok

I am not sure why Naval mode even exists at this point - and Gaijin continues to add Battle Pass challenges that require playing such a terrible game mode with bad map design and huge balance issues. Naval is garbage and shouldn’t be tied to BP.

Mid tier it ain’t so bad, high tier it’s horrid.

Found the cause for the task not counting. It was for RB (did not notice it), instead of AB. The only distinction between them are the AB and RB text. Everything looks so similar. Gaijin, make it more stand out by mode (different tab) instead of having everything in this long text blob.

There are so many interface problems in this game. It needs a major revamp, as there are so many things that do not make sense. Same goes for the rewards. For example, 10,000 SLs for 5,000 kills, etc. How about them medals that would take me more than 100 years (probably more) to get them all. Meanwhile I got to Level 100 something like 11-12 years ago. Lame and with no vision…
