and this is what defensive systems on them are for, chaff/CIWS…more people are drawn to the more moder weapons systems like it or not. My guess is more people will want to play something shooting the EXOCET than 16" guns…because missiles cool 😎
Computers do all the work. The tech behind it is cool but the actual operation not so much.
Not the few hundreds to two to three thousand men all working together to keep the machine working efficiently, the sheer amount of guesswork getting the shell to target.
‘nah let’s just remove the human element and have most of it automated’.
Problem that it will probably be EXOCET vs 16" guns in 20 km range with current ingame realities, you could try some of that by using pr 56-k or Charles F. Adams vs 6.3 BBs and Cruisers.
Nor do I have to. But given how garbage the DDG missiles already in the game are and their inability to actually mag snipe my usual (as of late) 5.3 line-up, they’re little more than free credits and RP.
Uuuuummm kinda don’t think the dedicated Missile boats will be anywhere close to 5.3 BR…Harpoon Missiles have if I remember around 500lb of explosive
Salvos of these would make the biggest things in naval atm into free credits :/ not that the things launching them can tank hits…but when we reach this point I don’t think we would be at Gun range!!!
I’ve been trying to get to coastal top tier in both France and Japan, after almost being done with Bluewater.
But I’ve noticed that 3.3 is unplayable for me, my lobbies are filled with player bots that seem to instantly J out when they are hit by another bot, and sadly both teams are only in destroyers so I’m unable to do proper damage agaisnt them in my pt boat, outside of capturing points there is no way for me to accumulate any score.
Correct me if im wrong but arent most DDGs and whatnot not actually able to currently penetrate Battleship Armor as they are designed to defeat other targets of its type? Yes sure they would probably be able to develop Missiles capable of defeating Battleships but i dont think most of them have such Weapons on Board.
Harpoon has a SAP-HE warhead and a top attack terminal attack profile (it comes in low to the water, then right before impact it climbs up and dives down to hit the deck), that should be capable of dealing damage to most battleships. The big question is the warhead fuse delay. If it’s too short then the missile will do nothing to battleships.
This assumes that Gaijin also makes the missile’s ARH seeker good enough to reliably hit center mass of an enemy ship.
Quoting @SekritDocumentz 's Thread/Post here to continue the discussion about Coastal Botes ruining high BR Naval matches. The “Please fix coastal mode” thread is very small, no point in continuing the discussion in that thread. This thread is the best place to discuss current issues with Naval Battles.
@Dodo_Dud tagging you here to make sure you see too 👍
My reply from the locked thread:
I 100% support everything written by OP.
Also check out some of my suggestions for possible alternatives, especially a change that would make it take longer for coastal botes to capture points in higher BR matches:
That thread is minuscule, super tiny 🤏 With Naval already being a smaller community, every effort should be made to involve as many naval players as possible. And this thread is by far the largest and most active naval thread there is. And it is specifically about ALL issues that are negatively affecting Naval Battles.
Making more threads for each naval issue only fragments the community further, and 90% of the other naval players will never see all the various naval threads.
If each of these new naval threads had hundreds of replies it would be fine. But each new naval thread barely breaks 10 replies. Waste of time, and counter productive.
Even this “large” thread barely has over 200 users:
The thread you linked to has barely over 10 users. Total waste of time. You are better off talking to a brick wall. No one will ever see it, and the Devs will 100% never see it:
So, what really helps getting into Naval Battles is to turn on “Join already active battles”. Normally for Ground and Air it is not necessary, and can sometimes negatively affect your match results. HOWEVER, with Naval it is almost inconsequential to join late. I actually prefer to join late so that you don’t get in the pileup at spawn, and/or get focused fired by being the first one to spawn in.
Furthermore, last year or so they greatly increased the time limit that you are able to join an ongoing Naval Battle. So, by turning this option on when you are trying to play Naval, you will very often get into a match in only a minute or two. Sometimes instantly. I would very highly suggest trying it for yourself:
