No it did.
I ran AB with realistic aiming set to yes ever since the last aiming changes in 2021. Saved me having to learn two interfaces. Worked great. Just used RB controls and factored in the speed deltas.

Yeah, you are incorrect. Before the Naval Arcade aiming changes a few months ago you could change the aiming to full manual “Realistic” aiming, where you have to change the aim point (lead) manually, IN Arcade matches.
You should edit or just delete your post because your claim is simply false. Cheers.
EDIT: Lol, they still haven’t removed it. Even though there is no need to try and further disprove your incorrect claim, tell me then, if you turned this off how would it affect aiming in Naval Realistic Battles? Make it Naval Arcade aiming, but in Naval Realistic Battles? Yeah, this was a setting that affected Naval Arcade Battles only:
I tried to switch it to RB while IN an AB match and it doesn’t currently work. It USED to. It doesn’t now. I ran Realistic Aiming in Arcade matches for YEARS because I prefered it. That option no longer exists. You can toggle the switch but it does nothing.
Yes, and they’ve said that’s not a bug. I know, it sucks. I won’t play AB in its current state because of the aiming mechanics, just RB now (which I honestly think is in the best shape its ever been, and this patch is going to make it even better).
Yup. I made a bug report that was ignored/not read correctly when aiming was changed. You can see my report waaaay up there at the beginning of this thread 👇😉
And I am still posting about this nonsense, even today:
And just in case you have not seen this thread, and if you would like to add your vote to my poll thread, here you go:
EDIT: lmao, sorry I see now that you posted a TON in the poll thread. Cheers bro.
[Poll] with multiple options for the changes to Naval Battles
Even if they allowed it, you’d be at a disadvantage. Part of a game mode is setting the stage for fair gameplay. The current aim mechanic in AB is poorly implemented, and divorces the player from a lot of decision making BUT… it’s fair when everyone is handicapped the same way.
Lol, I personally would not be at a disadvantage. I would be able to actually aim where I want my shells to go. Now, they randomly fly all over the place, especially when using the rudder. There is a bug when using the rudder that makes the aim go wildly off target/aim. Or maybe it is intended LOL, and one of those “not a bug” issues that the Bug Reporting managers tag most reports with 💀
OH it was YOUR post lmao 👇 Ok I’m just gonna put the stuff below behind a spoiler tag to save space, but gonna leave it here anyway for anyone else reading.

Quote from the post above:
Yeah. I dropped another NAB and I think I’m just going to give up on it. If we all play realistic, it will show it to be the more enduring mode. I just fear NAB is going to stunt players from learning any actual skills on how to aim in naval, and we’ll starve out NRB that way. After dropping in NRB, even my skills have suffered from playing NAB. The pain to learn Realistic from scratch is probably going to be real.
NAB was great for quick matches where you wanted the excitement of torpedoes.
NRB was more of a gun and guided rocket scene.
I had a lot of exciting fights in NAB. Dodging rounds, landing hits, and threading torps.
Those days are gone. [shrugs] Gaijin clearly dgaf.
[big deep sad sigh]
I’ll say this. …the Coastal game has suffered deeply. I have EVERYTHING ground out in ALL the nations. And I just don’t see the fun in it anymore. They joy was always in the dynamic little PT boats. Being smart, nimble, and fighting destoryers.
…you just… get popped too easy. And NRB is not the medium for fast, lightweight little boats. NRB is for armor and guns.
So. RIP PT Torp game.
/sad. And I just got this thing right before they changed the NAB aiming, didn’t have a chance to use it. Might not even use it now and just sell it.
People still smart and nimble with the boats in bluewater BR fights, capturing points under BB noses, torpedoing cruisers and destroyers. While you still crying that they don’t
You mean shooting while maneuvering right?
I manage to do it by being parked ;-)
I had the rudder full to left and shots were drifting.
if you talking about the PR123K or the V990… cool. Tiny lil boats with no hit box was never a skill thing. Do some work in a real PT boat, which is like 70% of the American Coastal tree. You can’t do that. Too big of a hit box. Too slow. Too easy to hit with the Aimbot mechanic. PT boats aren’t worth the time.
You better off just dropping in a 3.3 bluewater destroyer. OR, one of the previously overpowered boats.
The only thing this update did was make some of the big gunned tugs easier to play. Which are the dullest.
The entire mechanic of Arcade is now: More Armor/More Guns
Interesting numbers, thx! Anyway i am very surprised, did not expect decline that big. And imo, 4,3 is played most because, no BB, SKR7s and easiest way to do mission for the battle pass.
I expected player count to start dropping after the aiming system change. Many experienced players no longer wanted to participate in this farce.
In my opinion, even before this change, Naval Arcade was already too simplified. It lost a lot of players in the last 2 years for this reason. I also had a few moments in the past, when I thought about quitting Naval Arcade.
I stayed until the the recent aiming system change, but there is definitely no sense to play this game mode for me now. It’s not fun when aiming is automatic for every player and combat is no longer skill-based.
This is another thing that you can check on the StatShark, so you don’t have to guess.
Top10 most played 4.3 BR vessels in Naval Arcade in May:
Vessel: | Games Played: |
---|---|
Moskva | 18292 |
K2 | 17550 |
Pr. 206 | 16060 |
Z12 Erich Giese | 15675 |
Z22 Anton Schmitt | 13907 |
Bezuprechny | 13579 |
Soobrazitelny | 13385 |
SKR-7 | 13046 |
IJN Yugumo | 12288 |
JDS Murasame (DD-107) | 10756 |
You can see that the SKR-7 is not even in top5 these days. Which is interesting, because in all the previous months it was always top2 most played vessel at 4.3 BR.
I don’t play Naval Arcade anymore, but I suspect with this automatic aiming system it’s much easier to target the SKR ammo racks, which have always been its biggest weakspot. Maybe that’s why players prefer more durable vessels recently (yes, I know the Pr. 206 is just a boat, but it looks more like an exception on the list).
Have no time to check exact numbers, so just tip about SKR :D Ty for doing it for me haha. Anyway whole br around 4,3 is ideal balance of fun and xp/sl :) Atleast i enjoyed it well, most fav for me is (was?? :D ) 5.
Cheers
I play Realistic mostly but decided to check Arcade after the patch.
The way it is now allows NONE or little chance to move to realistic in the way it teaches the aiming/leading/distance of your gunnery.
I can see most just giving up and either sticking to easy mode arcade or leaving Naval totally.
Even better, you can look at player numbers by BR vs matches by BR, and establish if players have joined/left, or they’re just playing more/less.
Basically everyone’s playing AB about the same as before who’s stayed (meaning all those losses are more related to players leaving), except for those at the very top tier who have found the mode’s new rules more favourable than before. In other words the March changes are magnifying the inherent advantage of having ground out full trees but imposing barriers on easy entry (unless you buy a new premium ofc). People might want to consider that bias when they read established players saying, “come on in, the water’s fine.” Sharks need minnows.
