Naval Missile Thunder - General Discussion

There we go! Thanks :D

Honestly I don’t think an Iowa class would be affected at all by even Granit missiles

The issue is they would all just hit the same spot since they are mainly Fnf or radar guided. With a few exceptions of course either way they would mainly hit the belt doing little damage…reason why bombs are deady to bbs is because they are coming top down to the deck unlike anti ship missiles which just sea skim or go straight to the side.

Even with mouse aimed missiles your still just hitting the side of the BB where all the armor is. Regardless the majority of the blast and damage will be absorbed in WT.

Blagorodnyy’s vastly superior ammo makes it a lot more viable than Frank Knox/Moffett et al when uptiered, and it’s difficult to lose a one-on-one against any destroyers and most cruisers in its BR range, but I agree that new players would find it easier to instead grind the US tree with Frank Knox.

I think its combination of fire rate, ammo and armour makes it the best 6.0 Premium cruiser and one of the best cruisers overall. As you said, maybe not the best choice for a beginner, but if you’re struggling to choose which BR 5.7-6.3 Premium cruiser to get to make some serious amounts of SL, this is the one to go for (beating Des Moines by virtue of a lower BR and lack of a glaring weakspot).

Soviet SAP feel so much better than any other SAP I’ve used

Overall, don’t have any good expectation on AshM. Most of them are auto-locking, meaning super-structure would be it’s main targeting, and not a big threat to ww2 armored ships on that case. Actually, even nowadays destroyers and frigates are extremly hard to kill sole with AshM, as USS Thach shown in 2016.

On contrary, SAM would be fatal to game, as precedent Saetta, Douglas, and Bravy shown in later games today. It is extremly hard for ww2 props and early jets to evade even salcos missiles used by those ships. While Gaijin mentioned they were not interested in ‘modern’ naval missiles, almost every sam used on ship with SARH seeker, can be described as SALCOS missile in game as Douglas’ tartar missile does(and not 100% unhistorical as naval missile ‘follows’ signal from illuminator), and will be deadly even to the highest BR planes.

Isn’t this why the Russians put 500 kiloton warhead on some Granits?

and there are no possibility of nuclear warhead for missile in game mode, so unnecessary characteristic.

Yeah sometimes stuff that would work really, really well irl can’t come to game for balance.

Now, nuke shells (only 15-20kt) for missile refit Iowa class to give it good closer range punch might work

also nuclear warhead on naval shell/AshM is exremely dangerous for who using it as it can escalate into nuclear warfare without getting significant strategic result. Now even Granit with nuclear warhead is out of service for that reason.

Well, by the time it gets to the point where a supercarrier is moving on Russia it’s already pretty cooked.

but yeah it really isnt worth the escalation until its inevitable

Nuclear AShM would be quite funny

this already happens in naval AB even in low-tier when a Douglas or Saetta is present in the enemy team. One can sometimes evade missiles but in a plane you are usually looking for targets and not for incoming missiles in your WW2 aircraft

How horrible, not being able to spam PE-8 5000kg bombs in arcade is definitely what’s killing the gamemode and not the horrible BR compression…

I believe CAS players being unable to ruin naval vessel players’ day due to SAMs could actually BOOST the player count, lol.

well I’m not the arcade player, and I’m already talk about decompression and even made my own thread about decompression of capital ship in naval realistic. I don’t want to care about naval arcade.

Fair, though CAS are still a very present annoyance in RB. Early battleships with no AA are slow lumbering hulks that get dunked on by practically everything else even at their own tier, and anything to alleviate that is welcome in my book.

Tbf, CAS can still be viable even with guided missiles. Only thing is that it will take actual skill intead of brainlessly spamming bombs

Depending on mode. In realistic CAS is already only ‘spamming’ in 6.X battles, which is almost non-existent.

CAS vs Battleships with no AA is truly peak balancing am I right???
