This is where critical discussion is for me now, it’s nice to see they pulled South Kvarken but it’s far from the only map with serious problems. (of course I’m skipping the current mass of bugs with gun ranges, the ‘fire together’ options, AI target selection, and the classic nightmare that is Frigates etc ;)
Franz Joseph Land - recently reworked but nowhere near ready. Add a light fleet spawn further north that can use cover to approach B, add a heavy spawn further south, move C further much south to slow down speedboat triple caps. Sorry to be so critical but it just feels lazy to dump everything into 1 spawn like that, if you want to head in a particular direction it’s a total clown show of collisions to avoid, how can this not be understood.
Mediterranean port - the light fleet spawns can shoot boats within the first few seconds, no alt spawn, not a chance to get to cover. Either the terrain needs to be higher or the boat spawns move further north where there’s even loads of map that basically never gets used.
Japanese port - needs a second heavy fleet spawn else extending the map south was completely pointless, the whole island could move north with the point to the south of it, make the map generally bigger and make it another 5.0+ domination.
All Encounter maps need to let you actually choose where you want to spawn, else it’s again just a collision clown show, or be forced to move with the crowd to the L zone, even if you pause to let ships move ahead there’s still respawns to dodge.
Some maps that top out at 6.3 could increased, Feugo (domination) for one would probably be ok. It feels like map diversity fades as the slowing progression for higher ranks leads to more repetition and the time you can take at a certain BR or perhaps more specifically reward level.
Conquest needs to give a reward for being in the capture zone, else the zone may as well not be there, or the zone could be about 30% of it’s current size and be a more decisive victory condition so there’s less benfit for just hitting stop as soon as you spawn.
Full arcade EC would also be a huge bonus, this mode is almost worth playing now, but it’s overly slow and stuff like slow vehicles and engine burnout isn’t really consistent or interesting.
A related point, although I’ve played only a bit, it feels like Heli PvE needs at least 3x more targets and bases, and convoys need to stay longer. It seems quite possible to solo a map, it’d still be a chill mode with more stuff going on, but in general until there is multi-player vehicles I don’t think heli will shine like it could.
