I personally do not like Corsair for anything, but a case is a case
Agreed on rethinking storage scenarios . . . can’t have too much,
especially if you plan on keeping it a while(yeah you can add more later)
And I agree with pooqich, ditch the liquid cooler and go with an air cooler.
I have the same AMD processor and it came with a liquid cooler and I had
to clean it ALL the time(I do live in the Dust Bowl tho, so). I finally removed it
and put in a $10 AMD fan cooler
Never even gotten close to getting hot. If you were going intel cpu . . different story
I have 3 rigs, and all have 64Gbs RAM(hey I had money at the time, so . . why not?)
But I could have easily gotten by with 32Gb
I dunno Radeon gpu’s as all I have ever used is Nvidia made by EVGA, very good for me
A lot of smarter people than me in here, so you should get some good advice,
I’m just going off my personal experience and limited knowledge.
Hope it might help . . .
Goo ruck! . . . NEW GEAR!!
p.s. Save what you can on this stuff, you will prolly need $$$ for monitor(s)
and peripherals too(a good mouse, keyboard and headset are a must too)
With how overpriced DDR5 is (and ram in general), yeah, it’s better to try spend as little as you can on it right now as the prices will eventually come crashing back down again (when the AI bubble hopefully pops).
EVGA are out of the game for years now. They exited the market as Nvidia started turning the industry to trash.
I’m using the same mouse I got in 2008, lol. Ol’ trusty Razer Lachesis.
On another note - X870 is a good choice. One thing with AM4/AM5 is their ability to accept fully functioning unbuffered ECC ram. They make great server / NAS builds when you move on to another gaming machine. That’s what I did, popped 64GB of Kingston ECC unbuffered into my X570, put a 5900XT in it (16 cores / 32 threads) and it’s now my server. Gives you good flexibility in the future, whereas the lesser lines (B850) have limited IOMMU groupings when you try use them in server builds. However, if you don’t ever see yourself doing something like that - you can save money and opt for B850 or so.

Do you need the extra cores? V Cache is one CCD only so if you are not doing something that needs a lot of threads look into 7800X3D or a 9800X3D. They might be cheaper.

i like to spawn a huge amount of ai traffic in BeamNG, having more cores leads to more vehicles
Modded assetto corsa btw? I saw you mentioned assetto in the original message.
nah only had it for a bit
Ah fair enough, I highly reccomend the mod for it, it’s a whole new world :)

Also what’s your res. I can run a benchmark on my 9070XT to give you some numbers
Yeah, good point. I think 1440p is the sweet spot, and the 9070XT just has no issue with that. 200-300FPS+ (paired up with 5800X3D) with settings turned up in this game no sweat. Can see my FPS in the corner here (obviously recording / running multiple screens so FPS is taxed a little).

can you bench mark 1440P on movie and 1440p on maximum?
Sure I’ll do 2560x1440 at movie and everything maxed.
oh wait did you mean the max preset?
Go to 11:50 in this video.

if you can, the move and the max, if not, then just max also what CPU do you have
9800X3D
Max preset:

Movie preset:

I am assuming minimum is at 175 since that’s my refresh rate and it’s locked to that in the beginning of the the benchmark

np. lemme know if you need anything else

It is funny how much extra FPS you get in air vs ground. Must be all the chaotic explosions and smoke in close proximity.

I wouldn’t bother with an SSD that small.
That motherboard has 3 M.2 slots so you might aswell get 3 NVMe drives to fill them as your storage. It’s personal preference but I used a 500gb NVMe as my OS drive and then a 4tb NVMe drive for my games.
But if you did want a SATA SSD go for one by Samsung. I’ve had some other brand SSDs before and always had issues with the speeds nosediving after they get 50% full. But then swapping for a Samsung SSD and I’ve had fast speeds no matter how full it is.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the 870 EVO but with the price hikes going on right now those have gone very expensive so maybe wait a bit to see if the price goes down.
