It’s really useful when a team mate pings the map. Even if I risk being killed I usually try to follow map pings if they’re near me. Recently someone pinged the map so I went over to help. My team mate was fighting an enemy and I came up behind the enemy. The enemy’s armour was pretty tough but I was slowly damaging their vehicle and we eventually won.
Many times I’ve seen a team mate repairing and I’ve sat there for 15 - 20 seconds to help them and save them some time. I have decent repair stats so it’s good for me to help. Other times my team mate doesn’t even have the repairs upgrade so they potentially cannot repair a specific component and I’m able to assist them. After they get shot again, I may even repair them a second time ♥️
I’m not at top tier but I have a lot of rank 5. The game is pretty frustrating because I die a lot even at low ranks, so sometimes I just like to play unconventionally and help my team to level up and win. My playstyle is always to pressure the enemy and gain ground but this doesn’t favour my survival.
On the other hand, I had a crap game the other day where I was critically damaged. 5-6 of my team drove past and were all killed within a few seconds of each other. I sarcastically said “wow great team” then one guy mocked me by citing my KD ratio (right at the start of the game lol). I told him that the score was actually 3:1 as the enemy had captured all 3 points and we controlled nothing. I told him that he couldn’t see past the end of his own nose, and a moderator must have thought this was anti-semitic or something because now I’m chat banned lol. I just meant it’s ignorant and stupid to focus on a single player’s KD ratio while our entire team is losing the game and getting wiped out as soon as we respawn.
Even if they banned me permanently I wouldn’t care because I believe I can still issue radio commands and see other player’s map pings. Most people on SA don’t write in chat anyway, usually they only write in chat to mock me for my KD ratio, which doesn’t cover my overall score, my points captured, my assists nor does it cover the times I helped my team mates to win. Lots of meme spam in chat too so I don’t miss it. I can second-guess my team and see what’s happening on the map, no need to coordinate anyway, I just see what’s happening and I know where to fight or help.
Even though the in-game community is toxic and ego-centric I still love my bros and I continue to play the game regularly and help the homies. This forum is also great, I’ve never had an argument with anyone on here. I’m often playing ground realistic on the SA server on my Xbox Series S around 5pm - 11pm Auckland time. Earlier this year I said I’d quit the game for a number of reasons but in truth I had a 1-2 month break and since then I’ve just cut back my hours in War Thunder in favour of some other games. I’m looking forward to receiving my Xbox Year In Review 2025 to see what % of the time I was playing strategy, rpg or card games versus how much I played War Thunder.
