But this games maps are most in urban settings . I like hills and such .
Not just you, most players would like big open maps with hills to take cover behind and snipe from. With engagement distances >500m.
But gaijin for no apparent reason wants us to play narrow corridor small urban maps with engagement distances of <50m. Also they like removing sniping spots from the existing maps, which makes gameplay for glass cannon tank destroyers especially hard :(.
Its just no fun driving a god damn Waffenträger with no armor, the slowest turret traverse, and the turret sitting in the absolute back of the tank into places where you have to peek corners.
I abosolutely love the big Fulda map, its great, you can snipe, and take cover. (And for those the need to get up close they can drive to the castle and do knife fights there). We need more maps like it.
Defo need more maps and expanding maps that are currently in or have been in.
But also I want bigger maps in the lower BRs ;)
The reason is imho the same why we have 16 vs 16 in Air RB: Short range engagements with tanks in urban environment kills the skill advantage of more experienced players - 16 vs 16 in Air RB kills the necessary situational awareness just by the total amount of enemies / threats.
In other words: The reason is obvious - less skill required means less entry barriers for new (and paying) players…it is easier to get kills for rookies if actual skill is not required…
1- Not provable.
2- Player preference.
Yeah but claustrophobic city fights are more noob friendly and gaijin wants money
Maps can be big and still have areas for those who like pitchfork battles.
I would love to have very large maps where you can actually fly in helicopters not just around as now and with battlefield style spawn points.
For the same reason they won’t let you ban maps, forcing us to bail out of the games we don’t like in frustration.
They feed on frustration and not allowing tanks to do what tanks can do.
With the constant urban feeding, we need barrel collision yesterday.
If you stop to think about it, you will realize that even on open maps you are forced to fight at close range, unfortunately, because the bushes are the size of armored vehicles, trees everywhere, visual clutter, hills, etc… it’s all a tank fight 50m away, which is only noticeable because of the sound.
I don’t mind a few city maps occasionally.I would like to all the old maps return ,they were fun.Maps should look like battle fields not holiday resorts.
If gaijin can design good larger maps, I’m all for adding them, but they often can’t design good larger maps that aren’t just camping for the whole match.
Maybe for those who can port their Call o’ Dudy skillz to tanks, but generally no, because map knowledge is even more important in city maps than open terrain where its not hard to figure out how to stay off ridges ect.
Well, of course. But Gaijin most definately does not make WT newb friendly.

Such maps russia is at a massive disadvsntage due to having generally half the gun deprrssion of NATO tanks

We had ground EC but it was too fun (people farmed rp too hard and it was impossible to control).
We either wait for them to make ground sim not a straming pile of trash or return EC, or ww2 mode or whatever which is like vaporware?
- Yes
- No
It’s very helpful on several maps.
That was satire…
cant be more agreed
Due to lower profile of soviet designs which allows to drive closer to he ridge without exposing hull, the disadvantage is not that big as many thinks.
Didnt think about this thanks.
However in practice as a german main playing russia now about 80% of the sniping spots i liked to use in leopards just arent feasible in the t80s
Could just re-create real world battle maps… Kuwait, Iraq Invasion, Kursk as part of USSR, Kursk as part of Ukraine, El Guettar etc etc… Why not instead of re-invent the wheel. Just use real life locations.
