So, you all know the normal vehicle types. Light, medium, heavy, TD, spaa.
How would yall feel if there were more of them. Basically Sub classes so to speak for tanks that don’t fit into the normal categories. Things like artillery, command, ifv, support and special vehicles (Atgm, flame, ya get it). Each of these with their own specific map logo.
The main purpose for this would be to A: Stop people from comparing 2 tanks that fit very different roles. (Looking at the 2s38 and hstvl) And B: To easily see on the map where and what tank is on the frontline. (Think of if you see a TD at the front lines. Is it an m109, m901, or a losat? Do you need to reinforce that position or not? Why are there 3 m22’s blocking their name?)
These sub types would (Mostly) have the same sp cost of the normal categories that they’re connected too. (TD = atgm carrier)

Useless, War Thunder is not a strategic game, it doesn’t need team-based coordinated gameplay, if you know how to place yourself properly in the map, deal with targets and not die, everyone doing this means a victory, but not for the team, only for yourself even if the final result isn’t a victory in fact.
more specific icons could give the impression that you can trust the teammate youre with. so its definitely a bad idea
I’d like this. Not even for any practical reason, but to stop historically confusing people.
With stuff like Hellcats as light tanks for example there’s a slight issue of people that get introduced to these through the game thinking that’s historical, especially with Gaijin still marketing the game as a historically accurate.
So stuff like real world classifications would be nice to see, even if not directly in games at least listed in the statcards.
I feel like map icons could actually use less types, just one simple standard dot for enemies.
You tend to see the same sort of behaviours to map icons, players generally more likely to blindly rush an SPAA than a Heavy for example. But removing that information, probably encourages them to be a bit more careful

Less types for enemies, more types for friendlies, it’s more up to the player spotting to determine Leopard 2A5 vs 2A6, but friendlies can still see what’s positioned where
Enemies just get a simple dot, but friendlies get the actual marker for their type
Maybe in the map menu, if you hover your cursor over the icon it’ll tell you what it is
