More realistic GSB utilizing ready in-game features (share your opinion 🙏🏻)

Hello!
I just want you to share an opinion on how I think sim battles should really be. Not the matchmaker but mechanics. If you don’t like it, sure, let’s just not bring hate against it, as there might as well be people who may stand up for such ideas, same as me. If there will be large positive feedback, maybe it’s worth to make a suggestion as well.

Inspired by personal experience and Roblox’ MTC.

1. Viewports only (unless…)

Right now we have invisible commander sticking out of the tank 24/7 and providing us unlimited panoramic 360° view without risk of dying. We could enhance the feeling of tank battles by letting fully enclosed tanks only use viewports. They are official game mechanic currently known as Driver View, which, depending on the vehicle, provides frontal view from little triplex device or from behind/right in front of the windshield and makes first person driving feel more dynamic but severely limits your view if you’re inside a tank. See some examples:

  1. If the tank’s commander has viewports only limited to front and sides (T-34 1940 - gunner sight, side turret viewports), you can only view around respectively to the front & sides only - moving the mouse makes either (up to developer) smooth or quick transition from front to side view.
  2. If commander has a cupola with multiple viewing devices (Tiger E - cupola with near-panoramic six-device view), he gets somewhat close to our current commander view, but with fewer blind spots and limited camera elevation (much like in Driver Mode).
  3. If commander has an actual panoramic view device (as seen on E 100 or modern tanks with CITV), he … gets to utilize it! It provides much better, fully-panoramic view with slightly limited camera elevation and does not differ from how it is used in the game, at all. It also improves modern battles gameplay significantly as now you won’t just have to choose the best protection, mobility and shell but also getting proper view to react in-time.
  4. Finally, if the vehicle has an open top and commander is in that open compartment, he gets to use classic commander view present in the game! It provides much better intelligence abilities to lightly armored open-top vehicles, as we know by the game.
  5. Potential top-tier tanks such as Merkava IV Barak may get access to the classic all-around view from AB/RB battles, as it utilizes head-worn Iron Vision VR set providing full view all around the vehicle as if commander sees right through the armor.

2. Manual gearing only (also unless…)

Currently, despite the ground battles being labeled as “Simulator”, the game doesn’t force players to fully utilize their mobility by manually switching gears. Of course it isn’t actual driving simulator with clutches and levers, but E and Q gear shifting already provides enough immersion. I should also note that more modern tanks should remain able to switch gears automatically, if such feature is officially declared by tank manufacturer.
For example, while WW2 vehicles such as Sherman, Churchill will only utilize manual gearing (the one you select via Y → 4 → 2 IIRC), later Cold War designs and some modern tanks will get to use normal automatic transmission (Wiesel, Leopard 2A4, T-90M).
The MTC (Roblox’ multi-crew tank simulator) community experiences no issues with manual gearing and the game does provide you the access to automatic gearing on late Cold War and Modern War gamemodes. As it is made very similarly to WT (E & Q upshift-downshift, high engine speed = enough to shift), our game won’t come against any issues (except for bad gearing settings for certain vehicles such as AS 42, try it yourself).

If you support the idea, vote in the poll, if there will be many positive reactions, this post might be suggestion-worthy with decent voter-viewer ratio.
