Would you like to see more modern AI aircraft carriers in game?
Introduction
Currently we have four post-WW2 AI aircraft carriers in game: USS Forrestal, HMS Ark Royal, Admiral Kuznetsov and Baku.
However, except for two Russian carriers, the Forrestal and Ark Royal is very outdated for current timeline of air battle.
- USS Forrestal: commissioned in 1 Oct 1955, decommissioned 11 Sept 1993
- HMS Ark Royal: commissioned in 22 Feb 1955, decommissioned 14 Feb 1979
Meanwhile, we already have a naval aircraft from the mid-to-late 1990s or later.
There is also the case of France, which already has own naval aircraft in the game but has not received its own aircraft carrier.
Therefore, I suggests to add more modern aircraft carriers to game.
Considerations
As mentioned above, the “modern” carriers in the game, with a few exceptions, are not well suited for Rank VIII aircraft. However, these are adequate for the early-to-mid Cold War era aircraft, so it’s worth keeping.
So I propose to left some of the current aircraft carriers for rank VII and lower aircrafts, and adding new one for rank VIII aircraft.
- USS Forrestal: ~Rank VIII → ~Rank VII
- HMS Ark Royal: ~Rank VIII → ~Rank VII
- Admiral Kuznetsov: No changes
- Baku: No changes
However, keep in mind that there would be some exceptions to the rank.

We need stuff like the Nimitz to be added to the game fr, especially since its on its last deployment

This should concern every bit of A.I in the game. Tanks, AA, and Jets.
It is unrealistic to be having top tier battles against A.I that operate WW2 or early Cold War stuff.

Could probably put the Ford and Fuijan Classes on this list by the time they get around to addressing this.

With the Falkland Islands being add, they should add aircraft carriers to it so we can launch off of it and it would add a new gameplay dynamic to the game to be able to use in RB-SM
It’s a real shame that Aircraft Carriers get so little attention from the devs. The older carriers could use a bit of sprucing up and there obviously there are many modern carriers missing.
We don’t have French or Italian carriers (or modern Japanese carriers, which I didn’t know were a thing), the US’ and Britains carriers are pretty outdated and I would love to see more carrier models in general, especially light and escort carriers would be neat to see.
It would also be pretty cool to see the German Graf Zeppelin and/or Weser carriers, even though they would be pretty useless without the Fi 167 and the carrier variants of the Ju 87 and the Bf 109.
they aren’t they are helicopter destroyers :)
Don’t they plan to use them for STOVL planes?
Japanese politics, helicopter destroyers sounded better than an aircraft carrier to the politicians, with them being the JMSDF (self-defence force), and carriers generally not being used for self defence by most navy’s
I mean, they started out as Helicopter Destroyers and will probably keep that designation, but they are being turned into de facto Aircraft Carriers
Maybe also the Giuseppe Garibaldi?
+1 (maybe IF gajin can somehow balance it they could be playable? Though it would need a lot of work to be balanced)

I don’t think we will see playable aircraft carriers anytime soon, if ever. If/when we do though there probably will only be WW2 carriers and maybe very early jet carriers, unless Gaijin Starts adding more post-WW2 ships in General.

Yea that’s agreeable, the main issue I see is the disparity of carriers as only 2 countries would consistently have options as the rest either:
A: Only had interwar/ww2 options (Germany and Sweden)
B: Has no ww2 options (USSR and China)
C: Has too few and far between options (France, Japan and Italy)
D: No options whatsoever (Israel)
The Izumos have been redesignated as “Multi-Purpose Operation Destroyers” in english since 2019, which is as close as we’ll be getting to the carrier designation for now.
But the Izumos are longer than both Italian carriers Cavour and Garibaldi, but shorter than the QE carrier. All three countries would be difficult to land on though, given they do not have CATOBAR.
If you can land on the IJN Kaga, you could land on the Izumos though.
Possibly another post-war carrier for Japan would be the proposed CVH-B, another helicopter carrier. (CVH-A was around twice/thrice the displacement but pictured below is the -B).
This was supposedly after the Japanese were interested in acquiring an escort carrier from the US for anti-sub duties, but this and the above proposal did not push through. Instead the Haruna-class then Shirane-class DDHs were constructed as a halfway measure. Which lead to the Hyuga and Izumo DDHs.
